A NEW LOOK FOR THE BIG 12
I'm sure you've seen by now the great new logo for the Big 12 Conference. It's part of a rebranding campaign that highlights the strength of our league and the theme of "One True Champion." In case you missed it earlier this week, I shared some thoughts on our current positioning in the Big 12 (Click Here).

FOOTBALL TICKET UPDATE
We're now at 29,300 football season tickets sold. There's still time to make your purchase and get us closer to a third consecutive sellout of season tickets. You can Click Here, call (817) 257-3764 or drop by our Athletics Ticket Office in Amon G. Carter Stadium.
CHILLIN4CHARITY
if you're going to get water dumped on you, there's no better group to do it than our women's basketball program and no better cause than the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Chillin4Charity is a national initiative for women's basketball. Congrats to new head coach Raegan Pebley and her staff on taking this to a new level! In the last week, they've enlisted the services of Gary Patterson and LaDainian Tomlinson to assist in their promotional efforts.

DEMOLITION TIME
As you can see from the below image, the demolition work and $59 million renovation of Daniel-Meyer Coliseum is in full force. We are very excited for our men's and women's basketball programs to have a new home coming in the 2015-16 campaign.

NCAA WOMAN OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to women's golfer Sanna Nuutinen on being recognized as TCU's 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year! The NCAA Woman of the Year award honors graduating female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in academics, athletics, service and leadership. Sanna, who earned her TCU degree in sports psychology, was a three-time all-conference selection in addition to being a 2014 First Team Academic All-Big 12 honoree.

THE FLAMETHROWER
When it comes to first pitches, not many in recent annals can match what our favorite ball coach, Gary Patterson, delivered last Wednesday during TCU Night at the Texas Rangers' game. With Jim Schlossnagle as his catcher, Coach Patterson delivered a strike right down the middle that had the radar guns popping.

NEW FACES
We're excited to welcome Jay Fields to TCU as the new general manager for IMG at TCU. Jay is a longtime colleague from his days with the Fiesta Bowl and replaces Rudy Klancnik, who did an outstanding job during his eight years on campus. Please join me in welcoming Jay to the TCU and Fort Worth communities.
NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: Austin native and starting quarterback Randall "Pink" Floyd, in Dazed and Confused, told his coach, "I may play ball next fall, but I will never sign that. Now me and my loser friends are gonna head out to buy Aerosmith tickets. Top priority of the summer."

This Week: "Pork bellies, which is used to make bacon, which you might find in a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich."
COMPLIANCE CORNER
Four men's soccer student-athletes at Ocean State University created a club card/flyer to promote an after-game party at a nightclub following the World Cup. Student-athletes are working with an entertainment company and will distribute the flyers on campus the next two weeks. All four student-athletes provided photos of themselves for use on the flyer to assist with promotions. The student-athletes did not think their actions were in violation of any NCAA Bylaws because one of the student-athletes paid for the creation of the flyer. Additionally, the student-athletes will not receive any compensation for the event.
Is this a violation? Yes. NCAA Bylaw 12.5.2.1 states that after becoming a student-athlete, an individual shall not be eligible for participation in intercollegiate athletics if the individual:
(a.) Accepts any remuneration for or permits the use of his or her name or picture to advertise, recommend or promote directly the sale or use of a commercial product or service of any kind;
or
(b.) Receives remuneration for endorsing a commercial product or service through the individual's use of such product or service.
