As a final reminder, Friday is the deadline to renew your football season tickets and make your upgrade request. At the same time, you can also order your tickets to road games. We are approaching a third consecutive sellout for season tickets! How about that for a statement by the Horned Frogs Nation! We truly appreciate your support!
BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK
We have four sports in Big 12 Championships this weekend. With men's and women's tennis being played at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center, it will be the historic first time we've hosted a Big 12 Championship event on campus. Play begins Thursday on the women's side. We're also the designated host of the Big 12 Men's Golf Championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas. Our women's golf program will be at the Big 12 Championship in Austin.

GREAT WEEKENDS
Congratulations to our baseball program on its three-game sweep of No. 4 Texas in Austin last weekend! To give up just one run in the series and only one run in 45 1/3 innings over the last five games is truly a remarkable accomplishment. Congratulations to Garrett Crain and Riley Ferrell on receiving Big 12 Player and Pitcher of the Week recognition! We truly appreciate everyone who made the trip to Austin and helped provide a lot of purple in the stands, like Travis Vanderpool and family in the below photo.

ON THE DOCKET
In addition to all the Big 12 Championship activity for us this weekend, our baseball and track and field programs are in action this weekend. Baseball hosts Cal State Northridge in a three-game series. First pitch is 6:30 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Track and field heads to Iowa for the Drake Relays. In each of our last two meets, at UCLA and Baylor, Megan Smith has captured individual titles in both the discus and shot.
BIG 12 CORNER
The Big 12 remains second in the nation in RPI for baseball. Eight of nine programs are in the top 75 in RPI.
MEET THE STAFF
On the heels of the masterful performance on the mound by our baseball program last week, it seems fitting that we introduce you to pitching coach Kirk Saarloos. Kirk is in his second season with us after serving in a similar role the previous two years at Cal State Fullerton, his alma mater. During his time as a student-athlete for the Titans, Kirk was one of the top pitchers in the nation. He was a first-team All-American while leaving Cal State Fullerton as the school record holder with 127 appearances. Kirk then went on to a seven-year major league baseball career. On June 11, 2003, he was one of a major league record six Astros pitchers to combine for a no-hitter against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Kirk is a native of Cerritos, Calif. He and his wife, Kristen, have a son, Brady, and two daughters, Emery and Lane.
NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: A young Judd Nelson, as bad boy John Bender in Breakfast Club, said to his detention hall monitor, "Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe?"
This Week's Quote: "You took him from geek status to king status to no status."
COMPLIANCE CORNER
Ocean State University (OSU) has a contract with Nike for its athletic teams' equipment and apparel needs. Because the Orcas just recently won the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, Nike would like to use pictures of some of the student-athletes on product advertisements. Is this permissible since OSU has a contract with Nike?
No. Bylaw 12.5.2.3.2 states that a student-athlete's name or picture may not be used by an athletics equipment company or manufacturer to publicize that the institution's team uses its equipment.
