BIG 12 CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to Jordan Moore and Lorraine Ugen for capturing titles last weekend at the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships in Ames, Iowa! Jordan, who is also a member of our football program, won in the 60-meter hurdles (7.86). Lorraine, the 2013 NCAA outdoor champion in the long jump, took first-place honors with a mark of 21-05.50. It not only tied the Big 12 record but is also the nation's longest jump this season.

COODY CLASSIC NEARING
Please mark your calendar for Tuesday, April 29, for the 17th-annual Charles Coody Golf Classic at Texas Star Golf Club in Euless. Make plans to join us as we celebrate Charles, TCU's 1971 Masters champion, and support scholarships for TCU student-athletes. This year's tournament promises to be the best ever. We'll have coaches from all TCU sports participating and a full menu of new prizes from the Augusta National Golf Club. There will also be fun on-course contests and a chance to win a pro-am playing spot at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. More information on the Coody Classic will follow shortly, so please save the date of April 29!

VERRETT THANKS TCU
We appreciate Jason Verrett for giving thanks to TCU with yesterday's autograph session in the Moncrief Club. Jason simply wanted to show his gratitude for TCU by donating two hours of his time to sign autographs and take pictures with those who have supported him during his time as a Horned Frog. Jason is a special young man who leaves here with a degree in hand and a bright future ahead of him in the NFL.

ON THE DOCKET
Our women's basketball team, with back-to-back wins over Oklahoma and Kansas State, will look to continue the momentum from its strong close to the regular season when it begins play Friday in Oklahoma City at the Big 12 Tournament. Our opening game will be at 8:30 p.m. versus Texas Tech. Men's basketball is at Texas tonight before closing out the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum on Saturday with its Senior Day game at 3 p.m. versus Oklahoma. Baseball continues its homestand with a three-game weekend series versus Michigan State. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Women's tennis hosts North Texas today at 2 p.m., while our men's tennis program heads west for a pair of matches at Pepperdine and Cal. Men's golf will also be in the Pacific time zone as it begins play Friday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas. Equestrian is at Kansas State on Saturday with an opportunity to claim a No. 1-seed at the upcoming Big 12 Championships. Swimming and diving, after a successful conference meet in Austin, returns to the state capital for the USA Short Course Nationals.

BIG 12 CORNER
It's been well documented that the Big 12 is the nation's toughest conference when it comes to men's basketball this season. The strength of the Big 12 is also evident on the women's side. The Big 12 is the only conference with 60 percent of its women's basketball squads in the top 45 of the NCAA RPI. Ninety percent of Big 12 teams, including us, are in the top 68 in NCAA strength of schedule.

MEET THE STAFF
If you've recently purchased group tickets for any of our athletics events, there's a good chance you've talked to Bill Lee. Bill is in his second year as a marketing assistant with an emphasis on group ticket sales. He also assists with the game-day operation at baseball, men's and women's basketball, football and soccer home contests. A native of Grosse Pointe, Mich., Bill has a bachelor's degree in marketing from Michigan State and a master's in sport management from Texas. Bill, an expert fly fisherman, and his wife, Rachel, have been married five years.

NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: Courtesy of TCU men's soccer letterman Jim Brierton, we went to Tombstone as Val Kilmer (Doc Holliday) said to Kurt Russell (Wyatt Earp), "My hypocrisy only goes so far."

This Week's Quote: "I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don't you?"
COMPLIANCE CORNER
The men's basketball coaches at Ocean State University (OSU) are planning out the summer activities for their student-athletes. They would like to have their managers help out during the summer as well. Is it permissible for managers to perform their duties during summer access activities?
Yes with conditions. NCAA Staff Interpretation - 7/27/13 - Undergraduate Student Assistant Coach or Manager Serving During Required Summer Athletic Activities (I) - states that, in basketball, an undergraduate student assistant coach or manager may fulfill coaching or managerial duties, respectively, during required summer athletic activities, provided he or she was enrolled full time at the conclusion of the regular academic term (e.g., spring semester or quarter) immediately preceding the institution's summer term or terms or has been accepted for enrollment as a regular full-time student for the regular academic term immediately following the summer term or terms.
