Dec. 24, 2014 HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
We wish everyone a Happy Holiday season and safe travels wherever your destination might be, including Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl!
PRE-GAME TAILGATE SET
The TCU Alumni Office is hosting a pre-game tailgate and pep rally from 10 a.m. to noon in Atlanta prior to Wednesday's Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl game versus Ole Miss. The event will be in the Georgia Ballroom Lobby, 300 Level, Building C of the Georgia World Congress Center. The address is 285 Andrew Young International Boulevard Northwest, Atlanta, 30303. The cost is $65 per adult and $50 for children ages 2 to 15. Just walk up to the event and pay at the table.
STAT OF THE DAY
It was great to see our men's basketball program crack the Associated Press Top 25 this week. Congrats to head coach Trent Johnson and everyone in his program! We're one of only two schools currently ranked in the top 25 in football, men's basketball and baseball. In case you missed it, we're second in the preseason Collegiate Baseball poll.

WE'RE NO. 1
TCU received a great honor recently when New America, which publishes its rankings on EdCentral.org, rated TCU as the No. 1 academic school among the current college football top 25. CLICK HERE to see the rankings.

ON THE DOCKET
If you're not in Atlanta next week, make sure to check out our men's and women's basketball programs in action at the Rec Center. The men's game on Monday, Dec. 29, at 7 p.m. versus Tennessee State has been moved from the Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center and will be played on campus. The women host UC Irvine on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 7 p.m.

ON THE CLUB SCENE
I recently received a nice note from my friend TeShay Flowers, who's head coach of the TCU Rugby Club on campus. The team is having a great season. If you have a chance, check them out in action.

NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: It seems like everyone is a fan of Tommy Boy. It was David Spade saying to Chris Farley, "Look Mommy, the rhino is getting too close to the car."

This Week: "Faith is believing when common sense tells you not to."
COMPLIANCE CORNER
The women's soccer coaches at Ocean State University (OSU) have received several Facebook "friend" requests from prospective student-athletes. Some of these prospects are only freshmen and sophomores in high school. The OSU coaches have not accepted any of the requests yet because Facebook sends an automated message to an individual when his/her "friend" request has been accepted.
Is it permissible to accept the prospects' friend requests? Even for those that are not of age to receive electronic communication from the coaches?
Yes with conditions. NCAA Staff Interpretation - 12/5/13 - "Friend" or "Follow" Requests on a Social Networking Site (I) - states that an institutional staff member is permitted to initiate or accept a "friend" or "follow" request to a prospective student-athlete (or his or her parents or legal guardians) through a social networking site at any time, including prior to the first permissible date to send electronic correspondence, even if the social networking website sends an automatically-generated electronic notification (e.g., email, text message, push notification), provided the staff member does not modify the automatically-generated electronic notification and no additional communication is included.
