Nov. 19, 2014 MAYOR SUPERFROG!
SuperFrog was crowned Mayor for the Day by Mayor Betsy Price at Tuesday's Fort Worth City Council meeting. Mayor Price had made a declaration that if our football game with Kansas State was a sellout, SuperFrog would be named Fort Worth's Mayor for the Day. We then promptly had our third-largest home crowd (48,012) in history.
Mayor Price has produced a proclamation wanting to see everyone in Fort Worth, and its surrounding communities, wear purple every day from now until Dec. 6, when we host Iowa State in our regular-season finale.

EQUESTRIAN SURGES TO NO. 2
We're very proud of our equestrian program climbing to No. 2 in the national poll! It's the highest ranking in our program's history.

HONOR ROLL
Congratulations to football's Cameron Echols-Luper on being named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week after his 69-yard punt return for a touchdown in our win over Kansas. Cameron was also recognized as the National Punt Returner of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards.
Trevone Boykin has been announced as one of 15 "Players to Watch" for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, while Gary Patterson is a semifinalist for the Maxwell Football Club Collegiate Coach of the Year Award, an honor he received in 2009.

It was also great to see our volleyball program place four student-athletes on the First Team Academic All-Big 12 Squad. Congrats to Natalie Gower, Alexia Heist, Shane Peters and Ashley Smith!

NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: Patrick Swayze said to Keanu Reeves (playing fictional former Ohio State quarterback Johnny Utah) in Point Break, "That's a surfboard all right! Looks like a '57 Chevy I used to have."

This Week: "Pork bellies, which is used to make bacon, which you might find in a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich."
COMPLIANCE CORNER
Ocean State University (OSU) is conducting its annual cross country banquet at the end of the month. Kilo Meter, a sophomore student-athlete on the team, achieved First Team All-America honors this year, so her parents and two siblings would like to attend the banquet.
Is it permissible for OSU to provide complimentary admissions to Kilo's family members?
Yes. NCAA Bylaw 16.6.1.6 states that an institution may provide complimentary admissions to an institutional awards banquet for the family members of any student-athlete being honored at the banquet. [R] (Adopted: 11/1/00, Revised: 1/19/13 effective 8/1/13)
As a reminder, Bylaw 16.02.4 states that for purposes of Bylaw 16, a family member is an individual with any of the following relationships to a student-athlete: spouse, parent or legal guardian, child, sibling, grandparent, domestic partner or any individual whose close association with the student-athlete is the practical equivalent of a family relationship. (Adopted: 1/19/13 effective 8/1/13)
