
Rifle Rolls to Road Win At UTEP

EL PASO - The TCU Rifle team posted its second-best air rifle score of the season en route to a 4,666-4,563 win at UTEP on Sunday.
The 103-point victory was TCU's highest margin of victory since winning 4,615-4,346 at Coast Guard on Jan. 19.
The Horned Frogs had five shooters in air rifle reach or surpass a score of 588. Mindy Miles hit 593 for the third time in six collegiate matches, which also allowed her to overtake the top spot on the team with a 591-season average. Katie Bridges, Ariana Grabowski and Sally Li all added 589s. For Bridges and Grabowski, the score marks their season-high.
Grabowski has improved her score in each of her last four matches since shooting a 578 against West Virginia on Oct. 12.
Hannah Black posted a 588, which puts her and Li in a deadlock for second on the squad. Claudia Duksa's 581 was her highest total since posting the same score in the NCAA Qualifier win over Air Force on Feb. 22.
Smallbore saw another freshman reach a personal-best with Barrett Ray's 569 which equaled her total at the Oct. 25 triangular match with Murray State and Jacksonville State. Black paced the team with a 578 while Bridges and Miles backed her up with 577s. Li shot a 575 and Grabowski posted a 571.
Bridges' 1,166 aggregate score was a career-high. She tied Black for second on the squad, while Miles held the top spot at 1,170.
UTEP's Jessica Kinder led the Miners in all three categories. Her 581 in air rifle and 569 in smallbore led to a 1,150 aggregate score.
TCU will wrap up the fall campaign on Sunday with a match at Ohio State. The spring season begins Jan. 17 when Air Force and Coast Guard come to Fort Worth for a triangular match.
