COLUMBUS, Ohio - Sally Li set a trio of season-highs, while Ariana Grabowski posted two personal-bests as TCU closed its fall season with a victory at the Ohio State Invitational. The Horned Frogs have won each of their past three matches.
The Horned Frogs fired a team score of 4,672 to top the host Buckeyes by 18 points. It was TCU's second-best aggregate score of the year. The Frogs fired a team score of 2,321 in smallbore and a 2,351 in air rifle. Nevada finished third and Morehead State rounded out the field in fourth place.
"This was a good win and a nice score to finish the fall semester with," remarked head coach Karen Monez. "We had a lot of success, both individually and as a team this fall, with several personal best scores fired. I look forward to the team keeping the momentum going and to keep improving in the spring."
Li matched her season-high, shooting a 592 in air rifle to go with another personal record of 585 in smallbore. Her aggregate score of 1,177 is one below her career high set last season. Grabowski set new collegiate plateaus with a 587 and 1,168 in smallbore and aggregate, respectively.
Hannah Black fired a 591 in air rifle, the fifth time in seven matches this year she's reached that threshold.
Black also provided support for Li and Grabowski's successes in smallbore with a 579, her second-best output of the year. She rallied to shoot a 195 standing to reach her final tally.
TCU boasted the top two air rifle and smallbore shooters in the match, as well as the top two in aggregate. Ohio State's Deanna Binnie fired a 583 to finish third in smallbore, while teammate Mark Matheny's 588 was good enough for third in air rifle. TCU's Mindy Miles and Nevada's Stephanie Cooksey were fourth in air rifle after each shot a 587.
The Horned Frogs will begin their spring season on Jan. 17 when Air Force and Coast Guard head to Fort Worth.
