FOOTBALL SEASON TICKET UPDATE
Thank you again to all the TCU fans who continue to show their tremendous support for Coach Patterson and our football program. For the second straight season, we have sold over 30,000 season tickets. We had a 93 percent renewal rate for season-ticket holders from the 2012 campaign. When combined with the seats sold as a one-year option after seat installation was verified, we had close to 4,000 seats available for the 2013 season. There were three phases for fans to purchase these open seats:
Phase 1 - Returning Season-Ticket Holder Upgrades
Ballena's online technology, featuring a virtual Amon G. Carter Stadium, was once again used to accommodate those who requested a change of seat location for the 2013 season. For the first time, this technology was also available to those who wanted to change their donor parking location.
Phase 2 - One-Year Option
In 2012, many fans purchased tickets with the understanding they would not get the same seats in 2013 but would have an opportunity to select seats and become season-ticket holders in 2013. Over 75 percent of this group returned to purchase season tickets.
Phase 3 - Wait List Fans
We had over 1,700 names on our wait list to become season-ticket holders. We sold almost 2,000 season tickets to this group.
As of today, we have about 800 seats still available as season tickets.
For some perspective on the demand for season tickets, included below are some past sales history dating back to the 1961 season:

2000 - 13,819
2005 - 11,439
2009 - 13,756
2010 - 19,147
2011 - 22,525
2012 - 31,282
2013 - 30,530 (to date)

FOOTBALL KICKOFF TIMES
In case you missed Tuesday's announcement, our Sept. 7 home opener with Southeastern Louisiana will have an 11 a.m. kickoff and be televised on FOX Sports Network (regional sports networks). Our Big 12 opener on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Texas Tech will be at 6:30 p.m. and shown on ESPN. As I'm sure you know by now, our television partners select our kickoff times. The Aug. 31 season opener with LSU in the Cowboys Classic at Cowboys Stadium has already been announced as an 8 p.m. start with the game to be seen on ESPN.

ON THE DOCKET
Our track and field program begins competition today at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. First up for us is the women's 4x100 relay. We'll also be represented in the men's 4x400 relay, while Cameron Parker will compete in the men's triple jump, Lorraine Ugen in the women's long jump and Charles Silmon in the 100 meters and 200 meters.

EXCELLENCE IN THE CLASSROOM
We're very proud of volleyball's Emily Kirby and swimming and diving's Nelson Head on being recipients of the Big 12's Dr. Prentice Gautt Postgraduate Scholarships. Emily and Nelson have truly defined what it means to be a TCU student-athlete.

YEAR-END ACCOMPLISHMENTS
With the possibility of more honors coming our way at this week's NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, we've seen 12 of our 20 sports (women's cross country, equestrian, football, men's golf, women's golf, rifle, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field) represented in postseason play by either teams or individuals this season. We also had nine sports (baseball, equestrian, football, men's golf, women's golf, rifle, men's tennis, women's tennis and men's outdoor track and field) nationally ranked.

STAT OF THE DAY
Our 2013 men's basketball recruiting class is rated 34th nationally by ESPN.com. According to available research, that marks the highest ranking in our program's history.

BIG 12 LEADERSHIP SUMMIT
TCU and Fort Worth are excited to host this weekend's Big 12 Leadership Summit. We'll have student-athletes from all our conference institutions in town. We'll be represented by women's basketball's Latricia Lovings, equestrian's Taylor Gillette, football's Sam Carter, Aaron Green and Chucky Hunter, soccer's Makenzie Koch and Kelly Johnson and swimming and diving's Cooper Robinson. One of the highlights will be a Saturday morning visit to Cook Children's Hospital.
BIG 12 CORNER
As the strength of various conferences are discussed, did you know the Big 12 leads the nation in NBA draft picks over the last five years? In women's basketball, the Big 12 has finished No. 1 nationally in conference RPI the past six seasons (2008-13).

MEET THE STAFF
Scott Kull is set to begin his ninth year as our associate athletics director for external operations. Scott oversees our marketing and media relations offices as well as serving as our liaison with TCU's IMG office. Scott, who was the point person in negotiating our third-tier television rights with FOX Sports Southwest, came to TCU after spending the previous eight years at Florida State. Prior to joining the FSU staff, Kull worked in the athletics departments at Florida, Ohio State and Georgia Tech. He earned his bachelor's degree in business and organizational communications from Otterbein College, where he played football and was a member of the track and field team. The native of New London, N.H., received his master's degree in sport management from Ohio State. In his spare time, Scott can often be seen cycling through the streets of Fort Worth or competing in Ironman Triathlon competitions.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Former track and field standout Joe Brown (2005-08) was the 2008 Mountain West Male Athlete of the Year and TCU Chancellor's Award recipient. Joe earned All-America honors after winning the MW title in the javelin and finishing 10th at the NCAA Championships. He was the first TCU All-American in the javelin and still holds the Horned Frog record with a toss of 224 feet. In the classroom, Joe was also a two-time Academic All-American. He currently lives in Fort Worth, where he is the co-owner of HF Custom Solutions, a marketing and promotional items company. Joe is still very active on campus, designing gifts, shirts and other promotional items for several campus and Greek organizations. The photo below shows Joe in attendance at last year's London Olympics.

SPANNING THE GLOBE
In this week's edition of the TCU Nation flashing the Horned Frogs sign and apparel from all points worldwide, we see Henry Noor '65 in his TCU jacket at the Keukenhof Gardens near Amsterdam, Netherlands. Henry and his wife were recently on a river cruise in Belgium and the Netherlands. If you have some great images to share, please send them my way (delconte@tcu.edu).

NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: Exchange student Long Duk Dong, in the 1984 comedic classic Sixteen Candles, said, "The Donger need food!"

This Week's Quote: "He hates these cans. Stay away from the cans." Make sure to check back next week for the answer.
COMPLIANCE CORNER
Member institutions shall make general academic counseling and tutoring services available to all student-athletes through the athletics department or an institution's non-athletics student support services. In addition, an institution may finance other academic and support services that the institution, at its discretion, determines to be appropriate and necessary for the academic success of its student-athletes. An institution is able to provide support services but they must not cross the line into allowing it to be an extra benefit. An extra benefit is any special arrangement by an institutional employee or a representative of the institution's athletics interests to provide a student-athlete or the student-athlete's relative or friend a benefit not expressly authorized by NCAA legislation. Receipt of a benefit by student-athletes or their relatives or friends is not a violation of NCAA legislation if it is demonstrated that the same benefit is generally available to the institution's students or their relatives or friends or to a particular segment of the student body (e.g., international students, minority students) determined on a basis unrelated to athletics ability. Remember to ask before you act! Please contact our NCAA Compliance office (817-257-7525) with any questions.
KEEP IN TOUCH
Please let us know if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding our program. This is also your program and we value your feedback. We welcome all calls and emails.
