A RECORD YEAR FOR ATHLETICS GIVING
Congratulations to the TCU Horned Frog Nation on setting a new record for total athletics giving with $47,350,856 for the 2012-13 fiscal year. This new mark is over $8 million more than our previous record from 2010-11. The total athletics giving encompasses Frog Club, capital giving, funds for endowed scholarships and contributions to specific programs. As we announced last week, our record-breaking Frog Club annual giving total of $10,913,881 enabled us, for the first time, to cover all our scholarship costs. A special thanks to everyone for allowing us to share the story of how well you support your Horned Frogs.

DONATI TAKES NEW ROLE
We're proud to announce that Jeremiah Donati will transition from his role as executive director of the TCU Frog Club to associate athletics director for development. Jeremiah has done a phenomenal job in working with our department and vice chancellor for university advancement Don Whelan in both fundraising and building relationships with our donor base.

DISNEY AT TCU
Over the past couple of days, we've had Brent Centlivre from the Disney Institute visiting with our athletics administration. Disney works with several professional teams and collegiate athletics departments across the country. Our focus is to improve our customer service and game day fan experience. This includes from the moment you enter and the time you leave one of our facilities. We want to create the very best experience for you, and who better to learn from than Disney.

LSU GAME DAY NOTE
For those of you headed to our Aug. 31 Cowboys Classic game with LSU, please note that Cowboys Stadium will be implementing the NFL's new policy of limiting the size and type of bags allowed into stadiums. The NFL Committee on Stadium Security recently recommended the implementation of this measure to enhance public safety and make it easier for fans to gain access to all stadiums.
The NFL strongly encourages fans to not bring any type of bags, but fans will be able to carry in the following:
•Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12 inches x 6 inches x 12 inches.
•One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
•Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the stadium with one of the clear plastic bags.
•An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose.
For more information on this policy, please click here.

A GREAT RUN
Our 100-meter NCAA champion Charles Silmon continued his excellence on the track this past weekend. Competing at the USA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, Charles finished third to advance to the World Championships in August in Moscow, Russia. His time of 9.98 trailed only sprinting icons Justin Gatlin and Tyson Gay.

BIG 12 CORNER
The Big 12 was the home of five national team championships in the 2012-13 athletics season (Oklahoma State, men's cross country; Texas, volleyball; Oklahoma State, Western equestrian, Oklahoma, softball; Kansas, women's outdoor track and field). Additionally, we won the smallbore national championship in rifle with West Virginia taking the overall title. The conference also produced 20 individual national champions, including our own Charles Silmon (100 meters) and Lorraine Ugen (long jump). Since it began competition in 1996-97, the Big 12 has won 52 NCAA team titles and 537 individual national championships.

MEET THE STAFF
Tricia Jamison is set to begin her fourth year at TCU in our sports medicine department. After working two years as a graduate assistant with our swimming and diving program and receiving a master's in liberal arts, Tricia was promoted to assistant athletic trainer. Tricia works directly with our women's soccer and women's tennis teams. She also helps coordinate our lightning detection system. A native of Dallas, Tricia originally attended Saint Louis University before transferring to the University of South Florida, where she worked with the football team and earned a degree in athletic training. Tricia is seemingly here around the clock. When she does have spare time, she enjoys paddle boarding and sailing.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Russell Gary was a four-year football letterman (1996, 1998-00) at safety for the Horned Frogs. An all-conference selection as a senior in 2000, he was a key part of our nation's-best defense that season. In the 1999 Mobile Alabama Bowl against East Carolina, Russell returned a fourth-quarter interception for a touchdown to help seal our victory. He remains active in sports, dedicating his time to coaching high school football and training athletes. Russell is also vice president of recruiting and scouting at the LaDainian Tomlinson Preparatory Academy, which assists students and their parents with all aspects of reaching the next level of competition. Russell will be back on campus this week, along with some other notable football alums, as LT hosts one of his youth football camps.

SPANNING THE GLOBE
In this week's edition of the TCU Nation flashing the Horned Frogs sign and apparel from all points worldwide, we see Carl Stroud, class of 1998, outside the Horny Toad clothing store in Freeport, Maine. If you have some great images to share, please send them my way (delconte@tcu.edu).

NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: Tom Cruise, in the role that made him famous, as Joel Goodsen in 1983's Risky Business, said, "Porsche. There is no substitute."

This Week's Quote: "Carpe diem, seize the day boys, make your lives extraordinary." Make sure to check back next week for the answer.
COMPLIANCE CORNER
During a prospect's visit to campus (official or unofficial), he/she may participate in physical workouts or other recreational activities, provided the activities are not organized or observed by members of the athletics department coaching staff and are not designed to test the athletics abilities of the prospect. Recently, the NCAA issued an interpretation which states that during an official or unofficial visit, a prospect may participate in recreational activities in a facility that is not open to the general public (e.g., campus recreation center, golf course, swimming pool), provided the activities are not organized or observed by members of the athletics department coaching staff (including strength and conditioning coaches) and are not designed to test the athletics abilities of the prospect. Remember to always ask before you act. If you ever have any questions, please contact our NCAA Compliance office at (817) 257-7525.
KEEP IN TOUCH
Please let us know if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding our program. This is also your program and we value your feedback. We welcome all calls and emails.
