BIG 12 MEETINGS
Chancellor Boschini, associate athletics director/senior woman administrator Kim Johnson and I are in Irving for the Big 12 spring meetings this week. It's great being with our colleagues as we discuss all items relevant to the conference. TCU and the Big 12 are positioned very well for the future.

FOOTBALL TICKET AND PARKING UPDATE
A special thank you to all the Horned Frogs who have been buying football season tickets and purchasing donor parking gifts the last few weeks. Your support has been tremendous once again this year. We have a few key statistics to report. The renewal rate was 93 percent. Over 65 percent of fans made a change to their location during our upgrade phase. We are taking new orders this week as we have over 1,700 names on our wait list to purchase season tickets for 2013. With just over 2,500 seats available, we expect to be sold out again very soon. Donor season parking is also still available.
Don't forget to purchase your tickets to the Aug. 31 Cowboys Classic game with LSU and tickets to our Big 12 road games this year. Please note Friday's request deadline for these games.

A GREAT RUN
We were very proud last week of women's tennis student-athlete Stefanie Tan with her run to the Sweet 16 at the NCAA Singles Championship. In her opening two matches, she defeated top-20 ranked opponents from Florida and Tulsa. By making it to the Sweet 16, Stefanie earned All-America honors. The Singapore native was just a sophomore this season.

SET FOR NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Our athletics season will culminate next week at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. Charles Silmon will enter competition as the West Region's top qualifier in the 100 meters, 200 meters and as part of the 4x100 relay. We'll also be represented by Cameron Parker in the men's triple jump, Lorraine Ugen in the women's long jump, the women's 4x100 relay and the men's 4x400.

ON THE DOCKET
Our men's golf program continued play today at the NCAA Championships in Atlanta, Ga. We need to be in the top eight after Thursday's final round to advance to match play. If you'd like to follow the team online, click here for live stats.

MEET THE STAFF
Julie May is set to begin her fifth year as our assistant director of marketing. After doing a phenomenal job in her work with our baseball program, Julie will now be taking over as our men's basketball contact in addition to continuing with volleyball and assisting with football. Julie came to TCU after working in athletic marketing capacities at Marquette, Wichita State and Pennsylvania. A native of Topeka, Kan., Julie is a graduate of Kansas in addition to holding a master's degree from Wichita State.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Even though our equestrian program is still young, it has distinguished itself quite well with a 2008 Western National Championship and regular postseason appearances. Carrie von Uhlit played a vital role in that historic 2008 title. As team captain, she led the group that year with the most individual wins and four MVP titles. In 2009, she was named the Varsity Equestrian Reining National Champion. Carrie graduated TCU in 2010 and won the AQHA Amateur Reining World Championship. She currently lives in Fort Worth and is a government account executive for WW Grainger.

SPANNING THE GLOBE
In this week's edition of the TCU Nation flashing the Horned Frogs hand sign and apparel from all points worldwide, we see Bob Fillman '74 in Santorini, Greece. Bob and his wife recently returned from an anniversary cruise to the Mediterranean. Please continue to send me (delconte@tcu.edu) your images. These are fun to share.

NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: The character of George McFly, in Back to the Future, said to his future wife, "I'm your density. I mean, your destiny."

This Week's Quote: "The Donger need food!" Make sure to check back next week for the answer.
COMPLIANCE CORNER
As a reminder, here are the recruiting periods defined:
A contact period is a period of time when it is permissible for authorized athletics department staff members to make in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations.
An evaluation period is a period of time when it is permissible for authorized athletics department staff members to be involved in off-campus activities designed to assess the academic qualifications and playing ability of prospective student-athletes. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts shall be made with the prospective student-athlete during an evaluation period.
A quiet period is a period of time when it is permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts only on the institution's campus. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts or evaluations may be made during the quiet period.
A dead period is a period of time when it is not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on or off the institution's campus or to permit official or unofficial visits by prospective student-athletes to the institution's campus. The provision of complimentary admissions to a prospective student-athlete during a dead period is prohibited, except as provided in Bylaw 13.7.2.5 for a prospective student-athlete who visits an institution as part of a group. During a dead period, a coaching staff member may not serve as a speaker at or attend a meeting or banquet at which prospective student-athletes are in attendance, except as provided in Bylaw 13.1.8.1, and may not visit a prospective student-athlete's educational institution. It remains permissible, however, for an institutional staff member to write or telephone a prospective student-athlete during a dead period.
Remember to always ask before you act. If you ever have any questions, please contact our NCAA Compliance office at (817) 257-7525.
