A LONG NIGHT
We want to thank everyone who was part of our 48,212 in attendance for last week's home football game versus Texas. It was the largest crowd at the new Amon G. Carter Stadium and a truly electric atmosphere. We are extremely grateful to those of you who patiently waited out the unprecedented 3-hour and 6-minute weather delay. We know that resulted in a lot of frustration. Through the opening of the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum to the available concessions, we did our best to accommodate everyone who patiently hung with us that evening. We can't thank you enough for your support.
FROG ALLEY RECAP
It was great to see so many of you take advantage of everything Frog Alley had to offer prior to the Texas game. From the FOX Sports interactive set, including a visit from Cletus, our favorite robot, to the incredible Ron White and his Memory Wall, paying tribute to the 2,500 members of the US Military who lost their lives serving our country in Afghanistan, our marketing staff did an unbelievable job in providing a fantastic game-day experience.
IMPORTANT PARKING REMINDER
Before making your way to our Saturday football game at 2:30 p.m. versus West Virginia, make sure to check out our volleyball program hosting Kansas at noon in the Rec Center. Admission for this match will be free. Also, if you are heading to volleyball and don't have a football parking pass, note that parking will be available at the Travis Avenue Baptist Church with a shuttle then taking you to the Rec Center. WINDEGGER RECEIVES HALL OF FAME INDUCTION
It was an honor to see Frank Windegger be inducted Monday into the Southwest Conference Hall of Fame through the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. Frank is synonymous with the Horned Frogs and such an important part of our history. He laid the groundwork for our successes and hired several of our coaches and administrators who remain with us.
A RECORD ROUND
I'm sure many of you have dreamed about shooting a round of 64. Sanna Nuutinen, the lone senior in our women's golf program, accomplished the feat and set a school record in the process with her second-round effort Monday at the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio. Sanna recorded eight birdies and shot par on 10 holes. Congratulations, Sanna!
ON THE DOCKET
With seven of our sports having home events this weekend, this is truly an exciting and busy time for us. The home festivities begin when women's swimming and diving hosts San Diego State on Friday at noon in the Rec Center. Equestrian, off to a 2-0 start in Big 12 play, hosts Texas A&M at 1 p.m. at Turning Point Ranch in Springtown. Soccer will have its final regular-season match Friday at 7 p.m. versus Baylor at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium, while men's basketball will tip at 7 with its exhibition game against Arkansas-Fort Smith. Admission is free to the basketball game. Saturday begins with rifle hosting Kentucky. We'll then have a doubleheader with volleyball facing Kansas at noon and football taking on West Virginia at 2:30 p.m. Admission to the volleyball match will be free. Cross country will run Saturday at the Big 12 Championships in Waco, while women's tennis will compete at the Metroplex Mania in Denton. Please mark your calendar as well for Monday night, when our women's basketball program makes its exhibition debut with a 7 p.m. contest against Southern Arkansas.
BIG 12 CORNER
The Big 12 is tied among the "Power Conferences" with five teams having one or fewer losses in league play (Big Ten - 5, ACC - 4, Pac-12 - 4, SEC - 3). The Big 12 is one of two conferences (SEC - 6) with at least four teams in the top 20 of this week's BCS Standings.
MEET THE STAFF
Brent Scott is in his second season as an assistant coach under Trent Johnson with our men's basketball program. Brent, who arrived with Coach Johnson from LSU, is involved with scouting, game preparation, recruiting and the skill development of our post players. He was instrumental in us landing the No. 34 recruiting class in the nation, the highest ranking in our history. After a standout career at Rice, Brent went on to play professionally for 14 years, highlighted by a stint with the Indiana Pacers. He earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Rice in 2003. Brent and his wife, Brooke, have two daughters: Brekayla and Berklee.
WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Mike Bulla was a four-year letterman on our offensive line from 1986-89. He defined versatility and answered the "call to duty" wherever head coach Jim Wacker needed him. Mike is part of the Lettermen's Tailgate Pit Volunteer group with former teammate John Marsh and other Horned Frogs who cook all night and provide their world famous BBQ to Lettermen and guests at home football games. They serve around 400 people a game. Mike's unselfishness and dedication are still in play as he is the "go-to" guy making sure the Pit is parked in position, set up and closed down after the game. Mike is currently the capital improvement program manager for the city of Prosper. He lives in Frisco and enjoys spending time with his children, Justin and Taylor.

COMPLIANCE CORNER
Held Ball is a senior in high school. Held is going to graduate in December, enroll at Ocean State University (OSU) in January and join the basketball team. OSU would like to provide Held an athletic scholarship, so last week the coaches sent him a financial aid agreement to sign.
Is it permissible for Held to sign a financial aid agreement with OSU now?
Yes with conditions. NCAA Staff Interpretation -- 10/17/13 -- Awarding Athletics Aid to a Senior Prospective Student-Athlete who will Graduate and Enroll Midyear (I) -- states that a prospective student-athlete who intends to graduate from high school mid-year and enroll at a member institution mid-year during the same academic year (e.g., spring semester) may sign an institutional financial aid agreement on or after August 1 of his or her senior year, provided the institution issuing the financial aid agreement establishes, prior to issuing the agreement, that the prospective student-athlete is enrolled in all coursework necessary to graduate from high school at mid-year.
