"RAILGATE" TRIP TO NORMAN
As part of the excitement with Saturday's football game at Oklahoma, we're looking forward to our inaugural and branded "Frog Club Railgate Trip." This unique travel opportunity is part of the Frog Club Donor Rewards Program that was introduced in the spring through our TCU Frog Club. The trip will take place on board BNSF Railway Company's first-class historic train cars, the same cars that have hosted high-profile trips for individuals like Warren Buffet and Bill Gates. It will also simulate a tailgate atmosphere on board. An extra special thank you to BNSF and Chairman and CEO Matt Rose for making this trip possible. Mr. Rose also serves on the Board of Trustees at TCU. All aboard for Norman!
VIDEO BOARD HIGHLIGHTS
Some of you have asked about the highlights of other Big 12 games being shown on our video board at home football games. This is a Big 12 initiative to promote the conference. It's being done across the league at other stadiums as well.
HOMECOMING TICKETS AVAILABLE

BASKETBALL TICKETS UPDATE
As a reminder, our men's and women's basketball season ticket renewal deadline is Friday, Oct. 18. Make sure to reserve your seats now as tickets are expected to be a very hot commodity after our planned renovation of the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
COLOR BLOCKING THE CARTER
We very much appreciate everyone making our first-ever color blocking of Amon G. Carter Stadium a success on Saturday. It was great to see those alternating sections of purple and white as we achieved our 14th sellout in the last 16 home games.
NATIONAL HONORS
Congratulations to football's Sam Carter! Following our 48-17 win over SMU, Sam has been on an impressive run of national accolades this week. He's been named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week, the Jim Thorpe Award Player of the Week, Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week and recipient of an ESPN Helmet Sticker.
ON THE DOCKET
It's a true full week of activity for our sports programs as 10 teams will be in action. Volleyball hosts West Virginia tonight at 6:30 in the Rec Center. The Mountaineers are coached by TCU graduate Jill (Pape) Kramer. Volleyball will then travel to Kansas State on Saturday. Men's and women's tennis are in action throughout the week at the ITA All-American Championships. The men are in Tulsa with the women in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Soccer is at Texas Tech on Friday before hosting Oklahoma State on Sunday at 1 p.m. Equestrian and rifle are both set to open their seasons. Equestrian hosts a Saturday 11 a.m. competition against Baylor at our Springtown complex, while rifle is at Memphis and Ole Miss. Football and women's golf will both be in action in Norman. Football takes on the Sooners on Saturday at 6 p.m., while women's golf will compete at the Schooner Fall Classic. Cross country will run Saturday at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.
BIG 12 CORNER
Big 12 football has been marked by youth this season. There are 263 freshmen and sophomores on their schools' most current depth charts. Also, 16 different quarterbacks have started for conference teams through the first five weeks of the season.
MEET THE STAFF
Nancy Weiser is in her fifth year as an administrative assistant in our athletics academic services office. Among her myriad of duties, Nancy handles book disbursement for our scholarship student-athletes along with the certification process. When recruits are on campus visits, she arranges meetings with the different academic departments. She also coordinates our travel roster being sent to campus life when student-athletes are on the road with their various sports. Prior to arriving at TCU, Nancy worked with the WARM Place, a non-profit organization in Fort Worth for children who have lost a loved one. A native of Great Bend, Kan., just 15 miles from Coach Patterson's hometown of Rozel, Kan., Nancy and her husband, Bob, are the proud parents of two sons, one a TCU graduate and another a K-State grad.
WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Dana Schmid Schultz was a four-year letterwinner (1994-97) for our women's golf program. Our top finisher at the 1995 Southwest Conference Championships, she also helped lead us to a 12th-place finish at the 1997 NCAA Championships. Dana became a member of the PGA in 2003 and has worked for Troon Golf, a golf course management company for 14 years. She is currently the club manager and director of golf at The Club at Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Ga. She serves as tournament chair for the Georgia PGA East Chapter and on other civic foundations and fundraising boards. Dana enjoys playing golf and traveling. She has also competed in six half-marathons.
SPANNING THE GLOBE
In this week's edition of the TCU Nation showing its pride from all points worldwide, we see local radio legend Hal Jay, his wife Ann, TCU assistant athletics director for sports medicine Chris Hall and his wife Becky, a TCU Hall of Fame swimmer. COMPLIANCE CORNER
The Ocean State University (OSU) football team is traveling to a road game this weekend. OSU has designated this trip as a family trip, so the sport administrator would like to bring his high school-aged son. Is this permissible?
Yes. NCAA Staff Interpretation - 12/2/08 - Prospect-Aged Child of an Institutional Staff Member Traveling with the Institution's Team to an Away-From-Home Contest (I/II/III) - It is permissible for an institution, at its discretion, to provide expenses related to travel (e.g., transportation, lodging and meals) to away-from-home contests to prospect-aged children of institutional staff members and athletics department staff members.
