RENEWAL REMINDERSWe've had a tremendous response on our football season-ticket renewals with our current number just about double where we were at this point a year ago. The renewal deadline for tickets and parking is May 15. Please mark this important date on your calendar.
CLUB SEATS GOING FAST
Club seats are moving fast. Make sure to reserve your seats today by making the required down payment. They have become a popular item, and we anticipate all 2,300 seats being sold out. You must be a season-ticket holder in 2011 to purchase 2012 club seats. If you have any questions on club seats, please contact our Frog Club office (817-257-7700) or TCU associate athletics director Davis Babb (817-257-5658).
HEAVY INTEREST IN SUITES
We're involved in many conversations with folks for the three remaining suites still available on the west side of Amon G. Carter Stadium. Davis Babb (d.babb@tcu.edu or 817-257-5658) is your point of contact with any questions. Please feel free to reach him anytime.
PARKING UPDATE
Our waiting list for parking will be addressed after the May 15 renewal deadline. All handicapped parking in remote lots will be provided shuttle service to Amon G. Carter Stadium.
A GREAT PARTNER
Our special relationship with Nike will soon become more visible throughout our athletics program, especially facilities and uniforms for all our sports programs. Nike representatives have been on campus to observe how to best brand our product. We are very fortunate and grateful to be an elite partner of Nike.
SPRING FOOTBALL FIX
You can definitely make a day of it Saturday at TCU. Our annual Spring Sale begins the festivities at 8 a.m. in the Kelly Alumni and Visitors Center. Discounted apparel from all our athletics teams will be available for purchase through the conclusion of our 11 a.m. Spring Game. Frog Alley will open at 9 a.m. with face painting, inflatable games and a mechanical bull riding contest supporting TCU Hunger Week. We'll also have "Pancakes with SuperFrog," sponsored by Ol' South Pancake House, with donations benefitting the Tarrant Area Food Bank. The Spring Game is a great opportunity to check out the Horned Frogs on the gridiron and see the remarkable progress being made on the renovation of Amon G. Carter Stadium. Don't forget there's also a home women's tennis match versus Utah at 10 a.m. and a home baseball game against Air Force at 4 p.m.
COODY CLASSIC NEARING
We're only weeks away from the 14th-annual Charles Coody Classic on Tuesday, April 22, at Texas Star Golf Club in Euless. Sponsorships and playing spots are filling up quickly. Sign up immediately and spend the day on the links with Masters champion and former Horned Frog great Charles Coody. Information and online registration can be found at www.tcufrogclub.com. Next week's Masters marks the 40th anniversary of Charles' win at Augusta National.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
SuperFrog and our student-athletes have been making the rounds at local Little Leagues. Last Saturday, we had a presence at opening day ceremonies in Aledo and Azle. We will be in White Settlement this Saturday with SuperFrog taking part in their opening day parade.
PHI BETA KAPPA
Congratulations to women's golfer Melissa Loh and men's tennis player Cameron Nash for their selection to Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest academic honor society. Melissa and Cameron have definitely represented us well in the classroom and in competition.
FROM THE DIAMOND
Our season long 13-game homestand continues this weekend with a three-game set versus Air Force. Following Friday's opening game at 6:30 p.m., we'll have a 4 p.m. start on Saturday before Sunday's 1 p.m. series finale. Don't forget every Sunday is Kids' Day at Lupton Stadium with $1 hot dogs, inflatable games, face painters, t-shirts and more.
TENNIS ANYONE?
Our men's tennis team began Mountain West Conference play Monday with a 5-2 win over San Diego State. The women will have three home matches this weekend, beginning Friday at 2 p.m. versus BYU. We'll also host Utah and New Mexico in 10 a.m. matches Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Don't forget that free Mama's Pizza is available for all fans in attendance.
SMASHING RECORDS
School records were falling in several sports over the weekend. Jessica Young broke TCU and Arizona State Invitational marks in the 400 meters with a time of 52.27. Just one day earlier, Edgar Crespo set a new Horned Frog record in the 200 breaststroke with a 1:57.91 at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in Minneapolis.
