
Rifle Rolls To Victory Over Nebraska

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Rifle team fired an impressive match against Nebraska, topping the Cornhuskers 4,688-4,585 Sunday in Lincoln. The aggregate score was the third-highest shot by the squad in 2010-11. Sarah Beard had a good day at the range, firing a career-high 593 in air rifle and taking home top spot in smallbore with a score of 584.The Horned Frogs put up a solid air rifle score, shooting a 2,366, the second-highest total this season. The Frogs took home the top four spots, led by Sarah Scherer's 594. Beard followed with her 593. Caitlin Morrissey shot a 591 and Mattie Brogdon fired a 588 to round out the top four. Catherine Green shot a 576 to round out the Frog shooters.
In smallbore, TCU again fired the four highest scores in the match. The five shooters combined to post a score of 2,322. Beard led the way with a 584 followed by Morrissey's 581. Scherer claimed third with a 579 and Brogdon recorded a fourth-place finish with a 578. Green shot a 560 to help the Frog post a solid score.
The Frogs have one remaining regular season match before the postseason rolls around. TCU will host Air Force in dual meet on Thursday before hosting the NCAA Qualifier on Saturday. The scores from the Qualifier will help set the field of eight for the NCAA Championships in March.
