COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU junior Sabine Rasch has been honored as the Mountain West Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Rasch picked up four individual event wins and was a part of three relay wins over the past weekend as the Horned Frogs knocked off Rice, 159-126, on Friday and Wyoming, 166-134 on Saturday.
It marked the first time in the last seven meetings that TCU downed the Owls and the first time in the last five times it dropped the Cowgirls.
Against Rice, Rasch won the 50-free with a time of 23.84 and the 100-free with a mark of 51.29. Her 100-free mark is the fifth-best in the Mountain West for 2011 and 63rd best in the NCAA. Earlier this season, Rasch clocked a 23.41 in the 50-free, which leads the league and is No. 33 in the NCAA.
Rasch led off TCU's 200-free relay that blazed to a 1:35.35, the best mark thus far for the MW in 2011 and No. 25 in the nation. She also swam the butterfly leg of TCU's 400-medley relay Friday that clocked a 3:54.19 for top honors. The mark is No. 2 in the MW for 2011 and 47th-best in the nation.
In the meet with the Cowgirls, the Luckenwalde, Germany, native won the 50-free with a 23.65 and the 100-free with a 51.48. Rasch hit the water first in TCU's 400-free relay that won the event in 3:28.21.
Rasch, the 2010 Mountain West gold medalist in the 100-free, holds the TCU records in the 50-free, 100-free and 100-fly. In dual-meets, Rasch has been beaten only once in a sprint event while wearing a TCU uniform.
