POSTGAME QUOTES
TCU 81, USC 69
Fort Worth, Texas (Daniel-Meyer Coliseum)
Nov. 29, 2010
Attendance: 4,076
TCU HEAD COACH Jim Christian
On the play of his team and working together:
"I think it is going very well. The one thing you are seeing is the team getting more and more confidence every game. They are playing the right way. We are becoming a better defensive team, and over the last couple of games we have become a better rebounding team. When we can stop people down on their break is when we are at our best, and that is what we have been able to do."
On earning early-season momentum:
"I think we go into games knowing if we execute and do what we are suppose to do, we have a chance to win. That is why we play this many games early. This is part of a seven-game stretch with two more this week. I think you do that so you can get all the kinks out. The only way to get better at this game is to play."
Ronnie Moss and Hank Thorns in the open court and the impact on the defense:
"They put so much pressure on the defense because both of them can handle the ball, get in the lane and both can pass the ball."
TCU JUNIOR GUARD Hank Thorns
On dishing off the ball:
"I love getting my teammates involved in the game. I like for my teammates to get dunks and big plays since I do not dunk very much. I know who to get the ball to, and that is my job out there on the court. Once they get going, it opens up my scoring."
On the combination of him and Moss:
"I think we feed off of each other. In the beginning I try to get him going, and once he gets going he tries to get me going. We are leaders, and we have to keep the intensity up."
On TCU's young players:
"Off the court, we get along great. On the court, we still have a lot of work to get to know each other. I know a couple of guys are still getting use to my passes, but that will come with more games."
TCU FRESHMAN FORWARD Amric Fields
On the team continually improving:
"I think we need to keep growing. We are taking the right steps now and we need to keep playing hard together. Coach Christian is a good coach. We have a good team with good guards and post players. We need to keep growing as a team, and we will be fine."
USC HEAD COACH KEVIN O'NEILL
On TCU's performance:
"They deserved to win. They played a good game. They had high energy. We're just who we are right now. It's going to take us some time. For us, it's a challenge that we have to meet."
On the improvements his team needs to make:
"Our intensity level has got to get better. Our communication has got to get better. As we go along, we're a team that really needs to improve. The only way for freshman at this level, when they play these kinds of minutes, to get better is to just play them. That's all there is to it."
On what led to TCU's runs in the second half:
"We had two bad turnovers that led to baskets. We didn't start the second half well. That's two games in a row that we didn't start the second half the right way. It's a little bit tough to take, but we've got to get better."
