Kigen Represents TCU at Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - TCU senior Festus Kigen finished in 85th place at the 2010 NCAA Championships Monday in Terre Haute, Ind.
Kigen, the 2010 South Central Region Male Athlete of the Year, clocked a time of 30:58.5 to place 85th out of 246 competitors at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course.
"Festus got off to a really good start to begin the race," TCU distance coach Shawn Winget said. "I'm very proud of the way that he represented TCU on the national stage."
By running on Monday, Kigen ran at nationals for the third time in his career and became the sixth TCU entry in the past eight years to compete at the NCAA Championships.
Overall, Samuel Chelanga of Liberty won the individual title by recording a time of 29:22.2, while Arizona's Stephen Sambu earned runner-up honors with a time of 29:26.5. In the final team scoring, Oklahoma State won the men's national title with 73 points, while Villanova captured the women's crown with 120 points.
