
Frogs Roll Past Rogers State, 70-53, in Exhibition Action

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Frogs had four players notch double figures en route to posting a 70-53 victory over Rogers State in exhibition action on Tuesday night at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.The Frogs quickly opened the game on a 10-0 run, which was highlighted by a fast break lay-up by Hank Thorns to go along with three-pointers from Ronnie Moss and Garlon Green. The Hillcats were able to cut the double-digit lead down, but the Frogs quickly got the game back to a 11-point advantage at the 12:56 mark following a lay-in by J.R. Cadot to give TCU a 19-8 lead.
TCU was able to maintain a double-digit lead for the remainder of the first half, including a half-high 16-point advantage at 35-19 following a three-pointer by Thorns at the 1:45 mark.
Rogers State opened up the second half of action on a 12-5 run to cut the TCU lead to 42-38 with 13:24 remaining in the game following a lay-in and free throw by Joey Twilley.
The Frogs quickly went on a 9-2 run to take their lead back to double digits at 51-41 at the 10:25 mark and were able to maintain a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game en route to securing the victory.
Green notched a game-high 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and two steals in 23 minutes of action.
Amric Fields notched 11 points in the victory for the Frogs as the TCU freshman connected on 4-of-6 field goal attempts to go along with five rebounds, two blocked shots and one steal in 30 minutes of action.
Moss finished with 10 points, four rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes of action while Thorns collected 10 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals to lead the Frogs.
Chris Francis led the Hillcats with 15 points to go along with three rebounds, three assists, two steals and one blocked shot in 30 minutes of action. Matt Kellogg chipped in with 14 points, three assists, two rebounds and one steal in 34 minutes of action.
The Frogs connected on 45.0 percent (27-of-60) of their field goal attempts compared to 35.2 percent (19-of-34) for Rogers State. In addition, the Frogs held a 40-14 advantage in points in the paint, 25-9 advantage in points off of turnovers and 22-11 margin in bench points.
The Frogs will officially open the 2010-11 campaign on Nov. 12 when TCU welcomes Jackson State to Daniel-Meyer Coliseum for a 8:00 p.m. Central Time tip.
