
Rifle Escapes With Victory Over Murray State

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU rifle team used a solid score in smallbore to come away with a 4,673-4,668 victory over Murray State on Saturday. Sarah Scherer paced the field in both smallbore (586) and air rifle (593). TCU remains undefeated this season, improving to 3-0 in dual matches.
Three of the top five shooters in smallbore were Horned Frogs as they dominated the field with a score of 2,324, besting Murray State's 2,308 score. Sarah Beard finished a close second behind Scherer after shooting a solid 585. Catherine Green rounded out the top five with a score of 579. Caitlin Morrissey and Mattie Brogdon finished eighth and ninth after shooting a 576 and a 574, respectively.
Murray State made it a close match with a dominating performance in air rifle, winning the event 2,360-2,349. Murray claimed three of the top five spots to score the victory. Following Scherer's mark of 593, Beard finished fifth with a 588. TCU shooters claimed the 7th through 10th spots to wrap up the match. Brogdon shot a 585 to finish seventh and Morrissey fired a 583 for an eighth place finish. Rounding out the counters was Green's score of 581. Also shooting in the match was Maggie Savage, who fired a 580.
The Frogs return home to host Kentucky on Friday.
