NOTES ON A SCORECARDThe weather was a little ominous at first, but the skies cleared and it became a perfect night for football. We appreciate another sellout crowd turning out in full force Saturday for our 38-7 victory over Air Force.
DON'T FORGET THE FINE ARTS
There's just something special about working on a college campus. It's important to realize there are so many opportunities available beyond athletics. I was very fortunate last Thursday to attend the Fine Arts Gala in the Brown-Lupton University Union. Scott Sullivan, dean of TCU's Fine Arts program, can be very proud. The evening was a collaborative effort of all facets of the fine arts curriculum, including students in the theatre, music and dance programs as well as our band and orchestra. Kudos to the University for a wonderful program!
FAREWELL GAME
With an average home football attendance of 41,821, we're on pace to set a single-season school record for the second straight year. It's a fitting farewell to the existing Amon G. Carter Stadium. We have a lot of festivities planned for our sendoff game on Nov. 13 versus San Diego State. A publication chronicling Amon G. Carter Stadium's 80-year history, highlighted by a special piece written by Dan Jenkins, will be available for the first 10,000 fans in attendance. All our past football lettermen will take part in a ceremony along with a commemorative cup available for purchase and a post-game fireworks show.
SUITES AVAILABLE
We still have four suites on the west side of Amon G. Carter Stadium available for purchase. If interested, please contact associate athletics director for development Davis Babb (d.babb@tcu.edu). Thirty-seven donors have contributed $125 million for our renovation efforts.
DINNER AT THE DMC
Instead of dinner and the theatre, how about dinner and hoops! Our men's basketball program will be hosting Dinner at the DMC tomorrow (Thursday, Oct. 28) at 7 p.m. Individual tickets as well as various VIP and Premier Packages are available by contacting our men's basketball office at (817) 257-7968.
COUNTDOWN TO HOOPS
Our men's and women's basketball programs open their season with a Nov. 12 home doubleheader. The women host Houston Baptist at 5:30 p.m., while the men will face Jackson State at 8 p.m. A special men's and women's basketball preview luncheon, featuring coaches Jim Christian and Jeff Mittie, will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at noon in the Dee J. Kelly Alumni Center. Please contact our Frog Club office for more information. Season tickets are also available for both teams.
SATURDAY NIGHT DOUBLEHEADER FUN
Our soccer program has its final home match Saturday at 7 p.m. at Jane Justin Field at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium. We are also on pace to set a new single-season attendance record in soccer. After going to the match, you can still make it home in time to watch our football game at UNLV that night at 10 p.m. Fort Worth time on CBS College Sports.
HONOR ROLL
We were excited this week to have Andy Dalton selected as a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien Award, recognizing the nation's top quarterback. It's a well-deserved honor for a young man who has meant so much for our football program and University.
THE SHARPSHOOTERS
Our defending national champion rifle squad has begun its title defense with a very strong opening to its season. We won a tournament at Ole Miss and a home contest against UTEP, before traveling to Morgantown and knocking off top-ranked West Virginia. We're currently ranked second in the nation.

GO RANGERS!
Congratulations to Chuck Greenberg, Nolan Ryan and the Texas Rangers for winning the American League pennant. We are very proud of our Metroplex neighbors and friends and will be pulling for them in the World Series. In case you didn't know, Nolan is a Frog. He was a TCU assistant baseball coach when his sons, Reid and Reese, were pitching for the Frogs.
