
Carter and Crespo Earn TCU Weekly Awards

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU Athletics Department selected Emily Carter and Edgar Crespo as its Student-Athletes of the Week for their recent efforts for the Horned Frogs.
Carter posted single-game averages of 16.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals while helping lead No. 25 TCU to a 2-0 record against Air Force and Utah. The Bossier City, La., product shot 50.0 percent (12-of-24) from the field overall during the week, including 60.0 percent (6-of-10) from behind the 3-point line. Carter scored a game-high 18 points Wednesday during TCU's 72-35 road victory over Air Force, making 7-of-11 field goals attempts and 4-of-6 tries from outside the arc, while later added 14 points, five rebounds and three steals during Saturday's home 62-41 win over the Utes. She is averaging 18.1 points per game during TCU's current seven-game winning streak, shooting 50.0 percent from the field (40-of-80) and 47.1 percent (16-of-34) from 3.
Crespo helped lead TCU to a pair of dual meet wins on the road at Utah and BYU, securing the Frogs overall record at 5-0 and advancing to 4-0 against the Mountain West Conference. The Panama City, Panama native grabbed a pair of individual wins against Utah, sweeping the breaststroke events with a 56.42 clocking in the 100-breast before winning the 200-breast at 2:06.58. Against the Cougars, Crespo swept the breaststroke events, while tacking on a victory in the 100-fly at 50.15. He also took part in TCU's first place efforts in the 200-medley relay in both meets. Crespo has 12 wins this season, taking first in the 100-breast, 200-breast, 100-fly and 200-IM.
