TCU Selects Student-Athletes of the Week

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU volleyball senior Kourtney Edwards and football senior linebacker Daryl Washington have been selected as the TCU Student-Athletes of the Week.Edwards led the Frogs to a pair of road victories against Long Beach State and UC Irvine over the weekend to help the volleyball team qualify for its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
In a 3-1 victory over NCAA qualifier Long Beach State, Edwards tallied 13 kills, while also chipping in with seven blocks for the match. Against UC Irvine, the senior posted 14 kills on 25 attempts.
Washington helped lead No. 4 TCU to a 51-10 victory over New Mexico this past Saturday and claim the 2009 Mountain West Conference title outright. Overall, the Irving native topped TCU with 11 tackles, including 7 solo stops, while adding a TFL and a 20-yard interception return for a TD.
Against the Lobos, Washington, who reached double figures in tackles for the fourth-time this season, and the TCU defense limited New Mexico to 172 yards of offense, including 43 in the second half.
