
Rifle team successful at National Jr. Olympic Championships

Colorado Springs, Colo-> The TCU woman's rifle team traveled to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. for the 2008 National Jr. Olympic Championships. The team shot well in both air rifle and smallbore. Erin Lorenzen led the team in both events. Lorenzen's second place finish in air rifle gave her a spot on the National Development Team. This is the second consecutive year that Lorenzen has earned a place on the team.
In air rifle, Lorenzen shot well both days as well as in the final giving her a total score of 886 points. On day one of shooting, Lorenzen shot a score of 390. On the second day she fired a 395 and a final score of 100. Lauren Sullivan finished 16th with two solid scores of 389 and 387 for a two day total of 776. Emily Paper posted a total score of 769, which landed her in 27th place, in a field of over 90 shooters.
On the smallbore side, Lorenzen finished in the top ten with a score of 1142. She solidified her top ten finish with a strong score of 577 on the second day of competition. Simone Riford turned in a match total score of 1142, giving her an 11th place finish. Paper followed closely in 13th place with a match score of 1135.
Earlier this year, all three shooters, Lorenzen, Paper, and Riford were all named to All-American teams.
