Dallas, Texas- The TCU Equestrian team (6-7) earned its first-ever win over cross-town rival SMU (2-5) 8-4 Saturday at Park Lane Equestrian Center. The game, which had only Hunt Seat teams competing, marked the largest margin of victory ever by the TCU squad team.
The Frogs jumped out to an early 4-2 lead after dominating Equitation on the Flat. Carrie von Uhlit earned her first win of the season in the event, and is now only the second Frog to have a win in every event this season. Kindel Huffman accomplished the feat earlier this spring.
With her win in Equitation on the Flat, Milana Trimino improved to 2-0 in the event against SMU this season, joining Kindel Huffman as the only other Frog to be perfect in two tries against the Mustangs
In Equitation over Fences TCU defeated SMU 4-2. The highlight of the event was Jessica Hagen scoring an 88 to tie the school record previously set by Caitlin Sewell. Combined with her Equitation on the Flat performance, Hagen was the only Frog to go 2-0 on the day.
Hagen said of the team's performance today "We've been working real hard as a team this semester. You can look at the scores today and see it's really paid off." Of her individual scores Hagen said "I feel extremely fortunate having accomplished two high scores today."
Also breaking into the win column for the first time this year was Dallas native, MC Barr. Barr scored a 75 to defeat her opponent by six points.
The Frogs return to action Friday April 4 against Texas A&M in Mansfield. The game will be the last regular season game for both squads, before departing for the Varsity Equestrian National Championships April 17-19 in Waco.
