ATLANTA - TCU turned in impressive times during the first day of the 2008 ConocoPhillips Short Course National Championships at the Georgia Tech Aquatics Center.
The Horned Frogs' 200-free relay of Josh Bagby, Edgar Peyro, Ben Iannacone and Jack Doran turned in the top performance of the day, finishing fourth in the consolation heat. Bagby led off the event for TCU, registering a clocking of 20.43, just .03 shy of his personal-best time set at the 2008 Mountain West Conference Championships. The Houston, Texas native also turned in a time of 44.04 while anchoring the Frogs' 400-medley relay.
TCU also took advantage of the individual time trials. Freshman Ashley Bolin finished just short of the school record for the 500-free, timing in at 4:57.34. The finish marks the best time for the Frogs in the event this season. Doran and Peyro also swam as individuals, with Doran owning a 21.52 time in the 50-free and Peyro registering TCU's top 100-fly of 2008 with a finish of 51.52.
Senior Katie Rosen and junior Stephanie Futscher improved their times for the year in the 100-breast and 100-fly, respectively. Rosen tapped the wall at 1:06.09, while Futscher ended with a finish of 58.00. Sophomore Sammie Smith finished the 200-IM at 2:13.08.
