FORT WORTH, Texas - For his record-setting performance against BYU, senior R.J. Hesselberg claimed the Mountain West Conference Men's Diver of the Week nod Tuesday.
Hesselberg, a native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, set a TCU record and a new personal best by scoring 380.10 on the 3-meter springboard against the Cougars. The score also places third in the all-time MWC record books. The senior surpassed his previous score of 359.80 that won an MWC individual championship last spring. Hesselberg has five event wins in three meets for TCU this season.
The 2008 MWC Male Diver of the Year set a new conference record with seven MWC Men's Diver of the Week selections last season, including a stretch of six consecutive weeks of winning the award.
TCU will host Colorado State's women's swimming and diving program at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at the University of Rec Center. Hesselberg and the men's team will not compete until both H2O squads hit the road for Air Force and Wyoming next week.
