FORT WORTH, Texas -- The College Swimming Coaches of America Association awarded TCU's men's and women's swimming squads with Academic All-America honors for the 2007-08 season, while Jonathon Berrettini claimed individual All-American accolades.
TCU topped all Mountain West Conference teams in both men's and women's honors, as Wyoming was the only other Mountain West Conference school to earn Academic All-American nods for both clubs. TCU's men combined for a 3.090 GPA, while the women enjoyed a 3.217 GPA.
Berrettini, a native of Lewisville, Texas, adds another honor to one of the best seasons in TCU history, setting two new school records and qualifying for the NCAA Championships to become the first TCU swimmer to compete at the event since 1997. Berrettini set new TCU marks in the 100-back (48.16) and 100-free (44.70), and earned six All-Mountain West Conference selections. Berrettini held a 3.25 GPA and will graduate from TCU with a degree in marketing with a minor in communication in May 2009.
