No. 10 Oklahoma State drops No. 66 TCU, 4-1

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The No. 66 TCU men's tennis team fell 4-1 to No. 10 Oklahoma State on Sunday at The Greens Country Club in Oklahoma City, Okla. The match was moved from Stillwater, Okla., in order to play indoors due to rainy conditions. The loss drops TCU to 1-7 on the season, while improving the Cowboys to 8-1.
"Oklahoma State was the best team that we've played so far this season," said TCU head coach Dave Borelli. "They were clearly the better team today."
The No. 1 doubles team of Kriegler Brink and Cosmin Cotet highlighted doubles play for the Frogs, salvaging the event with an upset of the No. 54 duo of Daniel Byrnes and Oleksandr Nedovyesov, 8-7. The win was the third consecutive for the TCU duo, improving their record to 5-2 this season.
"I thought we played very well at No. 1 doubles," Borelli said. "Their doubles team has been playing great in that position this season."
Brink also highlighted singles action, recording the only win for the Frogs at the No. 3 slot. Brink downed No. 105 Daniel Byrnes, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5, to even his singles record at 4-4.
"Kriegler played exceptionally well today," added Borelli. "It was good for him to bounce back against a tough opponent after his loss on Saturday."
The Frogs dropped their matches at No. 1, 2 and 4 singles. Cotet was defeated by Nedovyesov, 6-0, 6-2, while Christopher Biro also fell in straight sets to No. 17 Ivan Puchkarov, 6-3, 6-4. Andrew Ulrich fell to Dmytro Petrov, 6-2, 6-3, at the No. 4 position. Matches at No. 5 and No. 6 were not completed.
The Frogs will return to action on Wednesday, when they play host to No. 16 Duke at 1 p.m. at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
