Frogs complete action in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS - The TCU swimming and diving team completed the final day of the Las Vegas Invite on Monday at the Buchanan Natatorium.
TCU freshman Jessica Miles earned the highest finish for the women's squad on Monday by placing third in the 1650-free wth a time of 17:26.72. Sarah Bardwell and Keilah Walker also earned top-10 finishes, placing ninth and tenth, respectively.
Junior Katie Rosen advanced to the 'A' final in the 200-breast event, finishing eighth with a time of 2:25.69. Maribeth Pottenger, a senior from San Antonio, Texas, competed in the 'C' final, placing 19th with a time of 2:27.53.
Three Frogs represented TCU in the 200-back finals on Monday. Cheryl Townsend led the way with a 14th place finish (2:07.97), followed by Sammie Smith in 18th position (2:07.92) and Brittney Martinez in 19th spot (2:08.01).
The women's 400-free relay team of Martinez, Shannon Jones, Mychala Lynch and Nikki Pappas ended the meet with an 11th-place finish with a time of 3:33.64.
The men continued their dominance in the sprint events, as three Frogs finished in the top six positions. Jonathon Berrettini led the way with a third-place showing (45.32), followed by Josh Bagby in fourth (45.48) and Scott McCracken in sixth (45.65).
The Frogs also fared well in the 200-breast event on Monday, as five swimmers advanced to the finals. Cameron Allred swam to a fourth-place finish in a time of 2:04.44, followed by Ben Biefnes in sixth place with a time of 2:06.76. Other Frogs who competed in the finals were Edgar Peyro (11th), Peter Todd (13th) and Chas Murphey (24th).
Freshman Jeff Gettel recorded a strong sixth-place finish in the 200-back with a time of 1:51.83, while Jason Hauck placed 10th in the 200-fly with a clocking of 1:54.84.
The men ended the weekend on a positive note, as the 400-free relay squad of Bagby, McCracken, Ben Iannacone and Berrettini finished second with a time of 3:02.29.
The TCU women's team will return to action at San Diego State on Jan. 4.
