ATLANTA - TCU senior swimmer Jonathon Berrettini set a TCU record and tied a Mountain West Conference record in the 100-back event on day two of the 2007 Short Course National Championships at the Georgia Tech Aquatics Center.
Berrettini broke his previous school-record time of 48.90 set in 2006 with a time of 48.44 in the 100-back preliminary. The time placed ninth out of 63 competitors. The Lewisville, Texas, native followed with a clocking of 48.28 to place second in the `B' Final. The time ties for first all-time in Mountain West Conference history with Arunas Savickas of BYU, who set the record in 2001.
Jason Hauck, a junior from Eden Prairie, Minn., also competed on Friday, placing 60th in the 100-fly with a time of 51.39.
The men's swimmers have now set two new TCU records this weekend, as Scott McCracken moved into first place all-time with a clocking of 19.99 in the 50-free on Thursday.
