
Frogs to host home opener on Friday

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU swimming and diving team will open the home slate on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the University Recreation Center against Centenary, Incarnate Word, Northern Arizona and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
The TCU women's team will compete against all four squads, while the men will face every team except for Northern Arizona.
The Horned Frogs are coming off of a three-day trip to Fort Collins, Colo., where the women met Colorado State in a dual meet and both squads competed in the CSU Early Bird Invitational. The women fell to the Rams by a score of 144-90, while both the men and women earned third-place finishes at the Early Bird Invitational.
Stephanie Futscher and Katie Rosen highlighted the meet for the Frogs against Colorado State. Futscher won the 200-fly event in a time of 2:06.70, while Rosen took the top spot in the 200-breast in a time of 2:24.88. Three freshmen highlighted the Early Bird Invitational for the women, as Mychala Lynch, Brittney Martinez and Nikki Pappas all notched third-place finishes.
On the men's side, both Jonathon Berrettini and R.J. Hesselberg won two events at the Early Bird Invitational. Berrettini set a meet record with a time of 20.83 in the 50-free, and followed the next day with a victory in the 100-back (50.88). Hesselberg was named the MWC Men's Diver of the Week after sweeping the diving events. Hesselberg won the one-meter event with a score of 289.20, and dominated the three-meter with a score of 319.65 in six dives. Three Frogs recorded runner-up finishes, including freshmen Jeff Gettel and Jeff Hendricks and senior Scott McCracken.
The Centenary men and women come in at a combined record of 5-0 with wins over Incarnate Word, Henderson State and New Orleans. Both Incarnate Word squads are currently 1-1 with wins over McMurry. The Incarnate Word men are in their first year of existence. The UTPB teams are both 1-0 with wins over McMurry, while the Northern Arizona women have yet to compete this season.
