Lopez, Mlendea named TCU Student-Athletes of the Week

FORT WORTH, Texas - Women's tennis player Gloriann Lopez and men's tennis player Andrei Mlendea were named the TCU Student-Athletes of the Week the athletics department announced on Tuesday.
Lopez, hailing from The Woodlands, Texas, posted a 3-0 mark during the week to run her spring record to 13-3 and help the 20th-ranked Horned Frogs capture the 2006 MWC regular-season title. The senior captain is currently on a five-match win streak and finished conference play with an 8-0 record.
Mlendea garners the No. 40 ranking in the current ITA singles poll and has been a strong competitor for the Frogs at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The sophomore from Oradea, Romania, has won seven of his last eight matches to compile a 14-7 record this season.
The women's tennis team returns to action on Thursday at 2 p.m. when it travels to UT-Arlington to wrap up the regular season. The men's team is currently preparing for the Mountain West Conference Tournament slated to begin on April 26 in San Diego, Calif.
