UNLV pulls away late from TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Curtis Terry hit five 3-pointers for 15 points while Louis Amundson added 14 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots as UNLV pulled away late for a 73-60 victory over TCU Wednesday night at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas.The Horned Frogs were playing just their third home game in a 34-day stretch.
TCU's 41.1 field-goal percentage marked its fifth-best effort of the season. The Frogs were six-of-15 (40.0 percent) behind the arc.
The Frogs trailed 30-28 at the half.
Nile Murry, who topped TCU with 18 points, scored the Frogs' first nine points of the second half.
After a Murry layup pulled the Frogs within 37-35 with 16:22 to play, the Rebels countered with a 9-2 spurt to lead 46-37.
TCU (5-17, 1-7) cut the deficit to 48-46 after a Chudi Chinweze offensive rebound and layup with 10:04 to play. Chinweze scored nine points with six boards.
UNLV (12-8, 6-2) led 50-47 before back-to-back 3-pointers by Terry keyed nine consecutive points as the Runnin' Rebels grabbed a 59-47 advantage with 5:47 remaining.
UNLV took its largest lead of the night at 63-48 on an Amundson layup with 3:47 left.
A 3-pointer from Judson Stubbs trimmed the Frogs' deficit to 68-60 with 1:02 to play. Stubbs had eight points and a team-best eight rebounds.
TCU held a pair of five-point leads in the first half, the last being 13-8 with 11:51 left before the intermission.
The Runnin' Rebels, who shot 44.6 percent from the field, held a 36-35 rebounding edge.
The Horned Frogs will be off for a week before returning to action next Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Wyoming.
