FORT WORTH, Texas -- In record-setting running back LaDainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers and AFC sack leader Aaron Schobel of the Buffalo Bills, TCU is one of just 11 schools to have more than one of its former players in the 2007 Pro Bowl starting lineup.
Miami (Fla.) heads the list with four ex-Hurricanes. The others are Georgia (3), Clemson (2), North Carolina (2), N.C. State (2), Oklahoma (2), Oklahoma State (2), Purdue (2), Tennessee (2) and UCLA (2).
Tomlinson and Schobel both played at TCU from 1997-2000.
Tomlinson, a leading candidate for NFL Most Valuable Player, has rushed for a league-record 28 touchdowns while his 31 total scores are also an all-time mark. Tomlinson tops the NFL with 1,626 yards rushing while adding 53 receptions.
As a senior at TCU, Tomlinson captured the Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back while placing fourth in voting for the Heisman Trophy. He rushed for 5,263 yards in his Frog career, including an NCAA single-game record 406 yards in a 1999 contest versus UTEP.
Schobel's 13 sacks are second in the NFL to only Green Bay's Aaron Kampman (15.5). Earlier this year, Schobel moved past Cornelius Bennett into third place on the Bills' all-time sack list. He is 2.5 away from surpassing Phil Hansen for second behind only Bruce Smith (171). Schobel's three double-digit sack seasons rank second behind Smith's team record of 12. Schobel has started all 93 games in his six years with the Bills.
Schobel was the WAC Defensive Player of the Year and a second-team All-American in his senior year at TCU. He was also a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award. Schobel remains the Frogs' career sack leader with 31.
