Final: TCU 25, UNLV 10
Today marked the 49th career win for TCU coach Gary Patterson. He'll go for his 50th victory next week at New Mexico. He would be the fastest coach in Horned Frog history to reach 50 wins.
UNLV's fourth-quarter touchdown snapped a streak of seven straight quarters in which TCU did not allow a touchdown.
The Frogs have won 14 straight Saturday games and are 15-1 on that day over the last two seasons.
TCU has started a season 6-2 or better for the fourth time in six campaigns under Patterson.
The Frogs improved to 15-7 in road and neutral-site games since the start of the 2003 season.
TCU is 10-2 in its Mountain West Conference history, including 5-1 on the road.
The Frogs are now 6-0 this season when allowing 17 or fewer points.
Peter LoCoco's four field goals were one shy of the single-game TCU record and gave him six straight successful attempts over the last two games. He is now 7-of-10 on the season. Nick Browne had five field goals for the Frogs against Cincinnati in both 2002 and 2003.
Jeff Ballard improved his record to 14-2 (.875), enabling him to tie Howard Grubbs (1928-29) for the top mark in career winning percentage by a TCU starting quarterback.
Ballard rushed for a career-high 84 yards on 14 carries against UNLV to lead all TCU players. His previous high was established against New Mexico last season when he ran for a season-best 79 yards.
In the first quarter, safety Marvin White recorded the first sack of his TCU career.
White's fourth-quarter interception was his third pick of the year and sixth of his two-year TCU career. He finished the day with a team-leading six tackles (all solo).
Tight end Shae Reagan made the first start of his collegiate career.
Aaron Brown's 11-yard first-quarter touchdown run was his first score in four games, dating back to Sept. 28 against BYU.
TCU scored first for just the third time in eight games this season. The Frogs have scored in the first quarter in 14 of their last 17 games.
Reagan's two receptions gave him seven catches on the season, all for first downs.
Michael DePriest's 34-yard second-quarter touchdown catch represented his first time in the end zone since an 84-yard scoring reception in the 2005 EV1.net Houston Bowl victory over Iowa State.
Fullback William Jackson's 9-yard third-quarter run was his longest carry from scrimmage in 15 career rushing attempts.
