Fort Worth, Texas - Senior Craig Chapman and freshman Jonathon Berrettini will compete in the 100 and 200-backstroke events at the World Championship Trials and World University Games on April 1-6 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. The pair will compete in the 100-back on Saturday and the 200-back next Tuesday.
The 2005 World Championship Trials and World University Games selection meet promises to be the biggest national-level swimmming competition since last summer's Olympic Trials. It will feature some of USA Swimming's top talent, which includes the likes of Olympians Michael Phelps, Brendan Hansen and Natalie Coughlin.
Chapman was all-conference in five events at the 2005 C-USA Invitational, which led him to being named the Co-Swimmer of the Meet. The Tomball, Texas, native was the conference champion in both backstroke events.
Berrettini, a native of Lewisville, Texas, earned the silver medal in the 200-backstroke at the Invitational. He also finished third in the 100-back and was a member of the 200-freestyle relay that earned the bronze medal.
