FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU Women's Tennis Head Coach Dave Borelli announced the signing of Nina Munch-Soegaard to a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday. She will join the Horned Frogs for the 2006-07 academic year."I'm really excited that Nina will be coming to TCU," Borelli said. "She committed to us over schools such as UCLA and Texas, and in fact cancelled all her other visits after seeing what our program had to offer. I anticipate her being an even better player by the time she arrives next fall. Nina has been well coached by her father and is certainly one of the top American players out there."
Munch-Soegaard currently resides in Amarillo, Texas, and holds dual citizenship with the United States and Norway. She has a current world ranking of 824th according to the Women's Tennis Association. Her career-high of 804th came in late July this year.
As a junior, Munch-Soegaard won the International Tennis Federation Kramfors Junior Challenge in Sweden in March 2005. She was a finalist at the ITF Oslo Indoor that same year and at the IPP Junior Open in Finland in February 2004. Munch-Soegaard plans to play Fed Cup for Norway next year and has been rated as high as second in the country's open singles division.
The home-schooled lefty was ranked No. 1 in Texas as a 16-year-old and reached the nation's top 10 before focusing her efforts in professional tournaments.
