FORT WORTH, TEXAS (March 23, 2001) -- Brian Florko, who has served as TCU’s Assistant Marketing Director since July of 1999, has been named the TCU/ESPN Regional General Manager, TCU Athletics Director Eric Hyman and ESPN Regional Senior Vice President Pete Derzis, jointly announced today.
ESPN Regional is the multimedia rights holder for TCU Athletics. Florko and his staff are responsible for promoting corporate partners of TCU Athletics through television, a radio network, signage in athletic facilities, print advertising, promotions and much more.
"The success of both TCU Athletics and ESPN make this a perfect opportunity for area businesses," said Florko. "Our current corporate partners have recognized the benefit of partnering with us. My goal is to maintain that level of excellence with our current corporate partner program, while introducing more businesses to the opportunities that are available through this relationship."
In his previous position, Florko coordinated season group and corporate ticket sales, while also handling gameday marketing operations for all 20 intercollegiate sports. During his stint with the Horned Frogs, the Cincinnati native helped set the all-time season football ticket sales record and the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum single game attendance record and helped increase average football attendance to the third highest total in history.
A 1998 graduate of Miami (Ohio) University, Florko came to TCU following a stint as Director of Promotions and Corporate Ticket Sales at Marshall University. He helped the Thundering Herd set records for football season tickets sales and single-game attendance. The school also established a five-year high in basketball attendance, along with increased season ticket sales. Florko began his professional career as the Coordinator of Group Ticket Sales at Miami (Ohio). In that capacity he helped set records in group sales for both football and basketball, and aided in establishing a single-game football attendance mark.
"TCU’s recent and past success is well documented," said Derzis. "ESPN is recognized as the worldwide leader in sports and as a company that brings a wealth of expertise to TCU and corporate partners through the company’s experience in sports marketing and multimedia. We are excited to have Brian on board to maximize the exposure of both TCU and its corporate partners throughout the Metroplex and beyond."
ESPN Regional currently represents some of the premier athletic programs and conferences in the nation, including Conference USA, the University of Kansas, Oregon, UNLV, UAB and South Florida.
