BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Led by a balanced lineup in which all four Purple squad members finished among the meet's top-10, TCU's rifle team finished second at the Birmingham-Souther Invitational this weekend. The Frogs' 1,435 mark fell short only of the 1,463 posted by Birmingham-Southern, which is competing in its first year of rifle and hosting its first competition.
The Horned Frogs' balanced attack was led by seniors Leticia Marquez (Alamo, Texas/Donna) and Stacy Phillips (Georgetown, Texas/Georgetown). Marquez shot a team-high 363, good for sixth place overall, followed by Phillips' seventh-place 362 effort.
Junior Jessica Green (Lufkin, Texas/Homeschool) and senior Jennifer Heim (Altoona, Iowa/Grand Island) rounded out the Frogs' scoring with rounds of 356 and 354, good for ninth and 10th, respectively.
TCU travels to West Point, N.Y. for a competition at Army this weekend. The Frogs take to the range at 9 a.m.
