In the first match TCU shot a 1393 and placed second behind a pair of Nevada teams. The Nevada Silver team shot 1508 to win the first match, while the Nevada Blue team shot 1463 to place second. Dena Putnam shot a 369 to lead the Horned Frogs.
Things turned around for the Frogs in match two as they scored a 1425 to take second place, just three points behind first place finisher Nevada Blue. Putnam led the Frogs in the second match with a 366 while Michelle Parker finished just one point behind her at 365.
"To shoot that many rounds and lose by three points is disappointing," said head coach Roger Ivy. "Losing by three points in rifle is like losing by less than one point in football."
The TCU rifle team returns to the range September 23 to battle the Mississippi Rebels.
