TCU Athletics Postponed Through Weekend
Sept. 12, 2001
FORT WORTH, TEXAS -- The entire TCU Athletics Department schedule of events through Sunday, September 16, has been postponed, according to TCU Athletics Director Eric Hyman. This includes all athletic events both home and away.
"In light of the tragic events of September 11, we have postponed our entire athletic schedule through the weekend," said Hyman. "We take this action out of respect for those who gave their lives in the horrific events that have taken place. We have had conversations with our friends at Marshall University, and have jointly agreed to postpone our football game scheduled for this Saturday, joining many other schools across the country. We will make every attempt to reschedule all of our athletic events. Due to the lack of corresponding open dates this year, we will postpone the football game with Marshall to another year," added Hyman.
"In light of the situation, we fully understand and support the decision to not play this weekend," said TCU head coach Gary Patterson. "Obviously there are other things in life more significant than a football game. Our sympathy, condolences and prayers go out to all the families who were touched by this tragedy."
