Frogs post dominating victory in season opener

FORT WORTH – Seventh-ranked TCU Equestrian was in prime form in the season opener, defeating South Dakota State 16-2 on Friday at KSM Bear Creek Farms.

The margin of victory was the largest for the Horned Frogs since a 16-1 victory over Fresno State on November 3, 2022, at home.

Earning MOPs for the Frogs was Lilly Goldstein (Fences) and Sydney Feager (Horsemanship) and Adele Cunningham (Reining).

TCU swept Fences and won Flat 4-1 to post a commanding result in Jumping Seat. Western was similar, earning a 3-1 victory in Horsemanship and taking Reining 4-0.

The meet opened up in Fences, with the Frogs dominating. TCU took all five points, thanks to Maggie Dumrauf, Chandler Wilks, Lilly Goldstein, Kyla Sullivan and Lily Muzzy.

Continuing the momentum, Horsemanship featured a lot of success for the purple squad, as Sydney Feager, Calla Thomas and Marcella Bee all earned points to give the Frogs an 8-1 advantage at the break.

The second half begun on the Flat, and TCU continued to show well, earning four points in the event to seal the meet. Point scorers for TCU were Lily Muzzy, Amy Krebs, Madi Lo Porto and Lilly Goldstien.

To close out the meet, the Frogs took four points in Reining thanks to Sydney Sargent, Rita Clausen, Adele Cunningham and Calla Thomas to cement the victory.

TCU hits the road in two weeks for a two-meet excursion in South Carolina. The Horned Frogs will face the defending-champion Gamecocks before facing SMU.
