TCU tandem wins Collegiate Doubles Wild Card Playoff
DALLAS – TCU's top-performing doubles pair is stepping onto the ATP Tour.
Duncan Chan and Cosme Rolland De Ravel earned a wild card onto the Nexo Dallas Open main draw after winning the Collegiate Doubles Wild Card Playoff.
The duo engaged in a four-team battle with Baylor, Texas A&M and SMU on Saturday at The Star in Frisco.
Chan and Rolland De Ravel defeated Texas A&M's Togan Tokac and Theo Papamalamis 6-3 in the opening round. The victory set up a winner-take-all bout vs. the Mustangs' Krish Arora and Jerry Barton. Neither team was able to break serve, sending the match to a tiebreaker. Chan and Rolland De Ravel finally created separation, taking a 4-2 lead before serving out a 7-6 (4) victory.
Both players are making their Dallas Open debuts.
Chan and Rolland De Ravel have formed one of the nation's elite doubles teams. Tabbed No. 22 in the latest ITA rankings, Chan and Rolland De Ravel are undefeated at 11-0 and have won all six of their completed matches in duals. The tandem commenced the 2025-26 campaign by winning the Battle in the Bay Classic in September. Chan and Rolland De Ravel have clinched three doubles points for No. 5 TCU (7-1) ahead of the ITA Indoor National Championships, held from Feb. 13-17 in Dallas and Waco.
Chan has enjoyed a meteoric rise to the pinnacle of college tennis. A product of Markham, Ontario, Chan sports a 25-5 combined overall record, highlighted by an 11-2 mark vs. ranked opponents in singles play. The junior defeated 10 ITA top-100 players in September. He achieved a career-high ITA No. 5 singles ranking on Wednesday. Chan has played the No. 1 line in every match he has started thus far for TCU.
The lone senior on TCU's roster, Rolland De Ravel transferred to Fort Worth following a decorated three-year career at Old Dominion. Rolland De Ravel was tabbed the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year ahead of his arrival in Funky Town. From Fontaine-les-Dijon, France, Rolland De Ravel leads TCU in overall wins (27) and was the lone Horned Frog to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships in singles and doubles. Rolland De Ravel holds a 94-19 career doubles record and is a sparkling 64-8 in duals.
Chan and Rolland De Ravel are two of four current or former TCU players in action at the Dallas Open, which runs through Sunday, Feb. 15. Jack Pinnington and Alex Rybakob each saw action in the qualifying singles draw on Saturday, with Pinnington winning his first round match, 6-3, 6-1 over Daniel Dutra Da Silva of Brazil.
The main draw of the tournament begins on Monday.
