Horned Frogs drop Big 12 spring opener
STILLWATER, Okla. – In its first Big 12 meet of the spring, the seventh-ranked TCU equestrian team battled, but ultimately fell to No. 6 Oklahoma State, 12-8, on Friday afternoon at Pedigo-Hull Equestrian Center.
The 12-8 score was the inverse of the two team's first meeting in Burleson, which the Horned Frogs emerged victorious.
TCU (6-4) fell behind 7-3 after two events, Fences and Horsemanship and then couldn't make it up in Reining and Flat.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The meet begun with Oklahoma State (6-1) claiming three of five points in Fences. For TCU, Lilly Goldstein and Maggie Dumrauf were able to salvage points to keep the deficit at one.
Oklahoma State began to get some separation in Horsemanship, winning four points. The lone TCU point was scored by Piper Keller.
Reining went 3-2 to the Cowgirls, putting them just one point away from a clinch. Earning the points for TCU were Calla Thomas and Cassie Hacking.
In the final event, TCU claimed a majority of the points, but were unable to keep OSU from eclipsing 10. Victoria Zahorik, Lex Lipacis and Hanna Dolan were all point earners for the Frogs.
