FORT WORTH – On a rainy Saturday night at Amon G. Carter Stadium, TCU played alongside No. 9 BYU for all four quarters but ultimately fell 17-10 in a defensive battle.
Â
Jaden Craig had 187 yards through the air, and Jeremy Payne led the Horned Frogs with 77 yards on the ground. Kari Ashley posted 108 yards receiving to lead TCU once again.
Â
Defensively, TCU held BYU to just 216 total yards and 62 yards through the air. Hudson Hooper led all Frogs with eight tackles, and Paul Oyewale posted six.Â
Â
The game started slow on both sides in a consistent drizzle of rain as both defenses stood strong and held the other side scoreless in the first quarter. BYU was able to be the first to break through, capitalizing off a long interception return to find the end zone and take the early lead.
Â
TCU's offense finally found some life late in the second, embarking on a 76-yard drive that ended in an Ashley 13-yard reception to tie the game going into halftime.
Â
In the third quarter, the defense's continued to shine, but BYU was able to add a field goal to hold a three-point lead entering the fourth.
Â
The Frogs' offense continued to struggle, missing opportunities in solid field position to seize the game. BYU added a late touchdown, and TCU failed to recover the onside kick after a field goal to end the game.
Â
