
Bauer to Lead Football Strength and Conditioning Programming

Darl Bauer spent the past two seasons at Troy.
FORT WORTH – Following a two-year run at Troy and five years at Houston, Darl Bauer has been named TCU's Assistant Athletic Director for Football Human Performance, the department announced on Sunday.
In this role, Bauer will lead a team of professionals charged with the development of the Horned Frogs' strength, conditioning, and speed efforts.
Prior to his two seasons at Troy (2024-25) working with head coach Gerard Parker, Bauer spent five seasons (2019-23) at Houston and 10 seasons at West Virginia (2009-18), primarily with head coach Dana Holgorsen. While at Houston, Bauer helped the Cougars post a 12-win season in 2021, and he saw 12 players selected during his five-year tenure.
In Morgantown, Bauer was a part of nine bowl appearances including a victory in the 2012 Orange Bowl with MVP Geno Smith. During his tenure, 30 Mountaineers were selected in the NFL draft. Bauer originally started at WVU as a graduate assistant in 2009 before earning a full-time promotion in 2010. He was promoted to assistant director of strength and conditioning/director of applied performance prior to the 2018 season.
Prior to WVU, Bauer spent time at Eastern Michigan (2007) as an intern working with the football, men's basketball, women's soccer, and women's volleyball teams.
He is a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA), the highest distinction in the strength profession.
Bauer graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education from Hillsdale in 2008 and a master's of science degree in athletic coaching education from West Virginia in 2010. Bauer is married to the former Carly Daniels, and the couple has two daughters, Gigi and Lula, and a son, Boone.
