Senior earns her second conference weekly honor of the season
FORT WORTH – Seven Castain, behind the second brace of her season, has been named the Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
The Draper, Utah, native had a two-goal performance in TCU's 2-1 victory over Gonzaga last Friday. She opened the scoring in the 26th minute off a feed from Grace Vest and Kamdyn Fuller. Then, with the score tied in the 80th minute, Castain scored off a cross into the box from Cameron Patton to give the Horned Frogs the advantage and the eventual victory.
With her brace against Gonzaga, Castain is now in sole possession of third place in school history for goals, securing her 26th and 27th in tonight's match. Castain passed Michelle Prokof and Gracie Brian in the record books with her brace.
The senior now has five multi-goal games in her TCU career, with two of those coming this season. The brace also brought Castain's goal total to five on the season, with those coming across three separate games. She also currently leads the Frogs and the Big 12 in shots with 31 and shots on goal, totaling 18.
TCU will kick off Big 12 play on Friday, Sept. 19, against Utah. That match will take place at 7 p.m. at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium and be televised on ESPN+.
