
Min-Gaultier One Stroke Back of First at Carmel Cup

Sophomore cards a two-under 70 at Pebble Beach; TCU tied for fifth
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – In her first collegiate tournament since achieving All-American status, Camille Min-Gaultier looked the part.
Min-Gaultier fired a two-under 70 at Pebble Beach Golf Links on Friday in the opening round of the Carmel Up and commence the 2025-26 season. She is tied for third and sits one stroke back of the lead.
The sophomore bagged five birdies – the second most of any competitor – and was buoyed by a strong finish. Min-Gaultier was bogey-free over her final seven holes and put an exclamation point on her round with consecutive birdies on 16 and 17.
Kirstin Angosta gave TCU two players under par and in the top-10, shooting a 71 (-1) to join a tie for eighth.
Their efforts kept the Horned Frogs within striking distance of the top of the leaderboard. TCU is tied with Arkansas for fifth in the eight-team affair after finishing 11-over (371). Just five strokes separate TCU from second place Mississippi State. Texas A&M holds a seven-stroke lead after carding a seven-under 353.
The Aggies' Cayetana Fernandez and Brynn Kort share the individual lead.
Min-Gaultier has now scored par-or-better in 53 percent (19-36) of her career rounds played. Friday's scorecard was her seventh of the even or under par flavor in her last 10 rounds in a TCU uniform.
Notably, Min-Gaultier picked up her 100th career birdie with her first of the day on the par-4 third hole.
TCU drew the early tee time on day one of the 54-hole affair. Angosta immediately became the hottest player on the course.
The junior birdied three of her first six holes. Angosta, the lone TCU player to maintain a top-100 Scoreboard ranking last season, carded a two-under 34 on the front nine. She tacked a final birdie onto her scorecard on the 17th green.
TCU posted a one-over 180 on the front nine as half of its lineup was even or under par. The Horned Frogs approached the 10th tee box in third place.
Sofia Barroso Sá used an even-par 36 to secure top-20 positioning going into day two. She concluded her round two-over and is tied for 19th.
Barroso Sá turned in her 96th career counter. She tied for 16th at the 2024 Carmel Cup.
The bottom-half of TCU's lineup finished a combined 19-over. The Carmel Cup utilizes a six-count-five scoring format.
