FROG FOCUS
After starting the season 3-3, the Frogs return to Fort Worth. TCU enters the weekend carrying a 53-match win streak at home, a record that dates back to the 2020 season.
This week marked TCU's third week ranked in the top five, coming in at No. 4 in the AVCA Coaches Poll. The Horned Frogs have three ranked wins under their belt coming into this weekend having defeated No. 5 Stanford, No. 11 Arizona State and No. 12 Hawai'i. The win over the Sun Devils was TCU's first win this season against a conference opponent, the sweep of the 'Bows marked their first ranked sweep of the season.
The dynamic duo of Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno locked in the inaugural Big 12 Pair of the Week honor (Feb. 26) with their dominating 5-1 performance from the No. 1 position at the OUTRIGGER Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic (Feb. 20-22). The duo extended their all-time wins as a pairing to 93 with victories over No. 5 Stanford, No. 7 LMU, No. 11 Arizona State, No. 12 Hawai'i and No. 1 USC. In Honolulu, Alvarez also hit her 100th career win milestone.
The Texas Longhorns will be the first team from the Lone Star State for the Horned Frogs to go toe-to-toe with this season. TCU has never lost to a team from Texas, holding a 39-0 record in those matches.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Boise State (3-2) was the first team outside the AVCA top 20 this week after receiving 16 votes. The Broncos travel to Texas after opening their season in Tucson, Ariz., where they defeated Arizona, Oregon and UTEP while falling to No. 11 Arizona State and No. 18 Grand Canyon. This is the second time TCU will face Boise. In their first meeting back in April 2021, the Frogs swept the Broncos in Fort Worth.
After hosting and winning the Seminole Beach Bash, No. 7 Florida State (9-0) is the second opponent for the Frogs this weekend. The Seminoles went undefeated last weekend, downing No. 15 Georgia State twice, CSU Bakersfield and HCU. Florida State leads the all-time series 14-6.
No. 12 FAU (7-1) travels to Fort Worth after going 3-1 at the FIU Invitational. The Owls recorded wins over Utah, PBA and Southern Miss, but fell to No. 17 FIU. The Horned Frogs last saw the Owls at the 2024 C-USA Conference Championship semifinals, where TCU won 3-1 to propel them to the championship match and their second conference title. In all-time records, TCU leads 6-4 over the Owls.
No. 13 Texas (9-0) travels to TCU after sweeping their first home matches of the season. The Longhorns downed Coastal Carolina, Tulane, SFA and TAMU-CC. TCU leads the all-time series with Texas 2-0.
