
Clutch Continues in 69-66 Win over No. 9 Texas Tech

Udeh records 11 points and 10 rebounds in TCU’s fifth win in six games
FORT WORTH – Again, TCU found itself in a close game and again, the Horned Frogs came out on top in a 69-66 win over No. 9 Texas Tech on Tuesday in Schollmaier Arena.
TCU (15-11, 8-7) recorded its fifth win in its last six games and improved to 9-1 this season in games decided by five or fewer points.
The Horned Frogs held the Red Raiders (20-6, 11-4) to 16 points below its Big 12 leading average of 82.4 and held the rebounding edge of 37-29. Ernest Udeh Jr. led the rebounding battle with 10 boards to go with 11 points for his fifth double-double of the season.
TCU trailed 10-3 before the Frogs went on a 16-4 run to lead 19-14 with 7:34 to go in the first half. Off a steal from Trazarien White, Jace Posey threw down a dunk to give TCU a 10-point lead, 36-26, with 1:48 to go. The Frogs made six of their last eight in the half to lead 36-28 at the break
The season-high announced crowd of 6,339 took in a halftime ceremony that retired the jersey of current Memphis Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane. Several former players were in attendance including Oklahoma City Thunder guard Kenrich Williams.
TCU continued to lead in the second half until a free throw by JT Toppin gave Tech a 55-54 lead with 8:05 to play, the first of six lead changes for the remainder of the game.
White, who tied a season-high with 16 points, hit a jumper to give TCU a 60-59 lead with 5:25 to play. Toppin immediately responded with a layup, but the Red Raiders would then go four minutes and 52 seconds without a field goal.
Noah Reynolds scored seven of his 16 points in the final four minutes as he was 5-for-6 from the free throw line and with the Frogs up three, hit a turnaround jumper at the free throw line to go up five with 11 seconds to go.
The Horned Frogs will begin a two-game road swing starting at Cincinnati on Saturday at 11 a.m. on ESPN2.
